I was trying to catch up to your build but I finally get the fame done and motor put back in and then.....freakin front knuckle just starts leaking so I ordered a rebuild kit and new hubs cause mine looked like poop. I also wanted to know where you got the fender flares and the nerf bars and their price? I promise I will start my own thread one day.

since you in there on the those knuckles you should change the axle seal in there.. that might be what is leaking...

all my bumpers and rocks sliders are 4 + series from MAN-FRE

fender flares are just bushwacker flares and I googled it and bought from the lowest price person I could find... think I paid about $80-$100 or so... but I just dont remember...

so when I say I think the truck has 9 coats on it… probably true… but this color is weird because it is almost transparent and the first 2 coats you can still see through it… maybe that is how all paint is…

I am going through the same thing right now - how many coats did you spray at once? Three? I would be afraid to lay down more than 3 as I already have some runs in places and I'm sure if the coats were any thicker bad things would happen. So I guess I need to lay down at least another 3 coats to get coverage? Did you wet sand between coats?

Oh, and your finished product looks great.

well I got a worried call from Ted last night saying... "you have not posted on your site, get to work!" well just to let you all know I am still wet sanding and buffing... I am taking a part each day and working on it... so YES Ted I am still working almost every evening on this . I got the hood and upper cowl and wind shield left. then I am done. pics to come at that time..

Heading up north again for the weekend to my buddies cabin for some 4 wheeling, gun shooting, and wiskey.... ( not in that order ) so I will not get much done this weekend...

when I come back I will not be in my 20's any more...

hey guys it has been a while... but just wanted to let you know I got the truck done as far as wet sanding and buffing... I am sure I will find a place here and there I will touch up but as of now... I am good with how it looks...

been up to alot actually... sold my Honda civic SI sold my 1987 4runner and boutght this 1998 limited... really nice truck.... got the rear locker also



had it up on the lift to adjust parking break, check fluids and change oil... that thing sucks to get on the lift because of the running boards...

my honda got at best 30 on the highway... this got 23.6 on the way home.... so if you figure in how much my car payment went down.... $$$$$ I can really afford to make up that 7 mpg

Ps mount question

Great thread, been watching this lately and it has been invaluable to me as I've been diving into my FJ the last few weeks. I have a question about the PS mount that you have connected between the pump and what looks like a bdorry ps pump bracket. It's the "u" shapped bracket that I'm referring to. Did you make that yourself or can I pick one of those up at a parts house? Thanks and congrats on how your build has been going so far. It looks sweet!

That is off a Volvo. It spaces the pump perfectly and eliminates the "stack-o-washers." It also stiffens the pump, too. Look for a 240DL and get the whole pump with the pulley. It is almost as wide as the Toyota pulley.
