I will let you know when I am done with this paint... :D but yea.... I feel as though I am making progress and going in the right direction.. still worried about how it will all come together... but I have a better feeling this week than last week.... still hoping the paint turns out good on that truck when I get that far...

Again got a lot done last night about 5-6 hours of work and drinking :beer:…. I had to tape everything off and I sprayed 2- 3 coats of sand able primer. Let that dry and lightly sanded out the edges and what needs to be painted to put things together…. I also tried to hit a lot of areas where I know I would get runs… that way now once I get it all together I will wet sand everything down again before final paint to get rid of all the runs I caused as I knew I would… those “hard to get areas :rolleyes:” will not get wet sanded unless there is a run or something in them… which I don’t think there is…. Just around them… anyway I will be able to just hit those difficult areas with a simple light 3m pad as they will just get hit really light with paint anyway… that way I “figure :rolleyes:” I will have less chances of getting runs on my final paint….. Well since I have never done this before your guess is as good as mine…. :flipoff2:


Came out good….

Also put up plastic on everything to keep dust and over stray off everything… set up two fans blowing out…. Actually worked really well to clear out shop fairly fast… I was impressed and a little surprised to tell you the truth…

I got a buddy coming over tonight to help me get all the sheet metal on... so I hope that goes well..... maybe have some pics for you tomorrow..
 
spent 4 hours but got front sheet metal on last night... drivers side still needs work... MILLHOUSE is going to be here on friday night. I called him last night and we are going to work on getting the gaps right... but I dont think it will take that much... a few washers on the fenders and I think that is all I will need... everything is still loose enought to move around on there now and I will not tighten anything up until I have him look at it and get his opinion on a few issues I am having... the main thing is the side curtion on the driver side and the gap where it meets up with the cowl. which I think is being caused by the fender not being in the correct location... but again it should be an easy fix. but I am assuming it will take some time....

start sanding today....

yea... it was a huge change in a few hours... I had alot of fun last night bolting that stuff up.... :D
 
Spend the night wet sanding last night…:D started at 5 ended at 11:30 or so…. Neighbor came over for a beer and got a few phone calls so call it about 6 hours or so… Think I could rob a bank this morning, as I don’t think I have fingerprints left:flipoff2:…. MILLHOUSE will be here tonight so we can shim up those fenders and tighten everything down… sure I will find another few spots that need some touch up sanding and will address those as they come up… but over all I am very happy with how it all turned out… no need for any major repair or extra coats of primer… Just got a few pics for you…:D

Those bolts are just regular bolts that are just on there now... I have changed my mind about three times about what I am doing with exposed hardware... I was going to use stainless, then going to use regular and paint them now I am going to use black andiz. CAT bolts.... mainly because I have seen three trucks that have them and they look cool.. and since I am kool :grinpimp:... then I figure that is what I need to do.... so all the hardware you see is just on there to hold everything in place until painted... then I will take them out one at a time and replace with a CAT bolt. Problem is that a CAT bolt will rust eventually, so they are not the perfect solution... but since this is a mall cruiser and will never have to sit outside or have to be in the salt it will last a while... Plus Poser, Millhouse, and Lemon leave their junk out some of the time and none of their stuff is rusted yet... so in 5 years I got to buy some new bolts... who cares.... price of being awesome I guess... :flipoff2:

If I were painting them I would scuff all the heads with a 3M pad, then soak them in Lacker thinner for a few min. blow them off with air and then put them in. they are tricky to paint because there are a few angles and runs are easy to get..

Millhouse was at my house on Friday night by 6PM… we were in the shop until around 3AM now we were not working that whole time.. but I will be willing to bet that we spent a good 4 to 5 hours getting that front sheet metal and all the gaps right… over all I was very happy with how it all turned out, so we tightened everything down and called it good…

Saturday I went to see my grandpa as usual and got back to the shop by 11AM or so… started wet sanding things out to 800 grit… that took maybe 3 hours… pushed the truck out to the apron and got the hose out and cleaned it really well. Then I spent a few hours sweeping the shop and washing all the walls and all the floors… also moved a bunch of s*** outside to sit for a few days… taped up plastic around a lot of walls and over anything left in my shop. Then started taping the truck off… seems like it took forever but I was really tired by this point and just needed to get some sleep… called it a night at 11:30 PM with plans of getting up early to get some paint shot.
