I don't know where the diesel idea came from, oh well. I know I have diesel on my mind so there you go problem solved!

You could still drop a 3b in there.:hillbilly:

Diesel on my mind. Isn't that a name of a song? Maybe a pub song with a bunch of swearing in the lyrics!

You want original, buy original with JIS heads and zinc protection. You want stainless go with the stainless with a slotted head. Slotted non-recessed head does not look original - it's nice, but not original.

Just my $0.02.

Right, original isn't cad plated. I'm not sure it's even zinc protected. It appears to be just primer coated.

In any case, the original will look like rust a few years down the road.

I have a 79 too. I'm not home to look, but I'm pretty sure they were originally cad plated.

I installed a reman Denso OEM alternator which was rebuilt by BOSCH and purchased from AutoZone with a life time warranty, it looks good and works great and it came with the stock pulley and bolted up to the OEM bracket perfectly. Complete plug-n-play! Just the way I like things to work!

Wow Mike your engine bay is looking good! Your alternator is true electrical porn-looks even better than my OEM one that I had redone!!

The OEM alternator would be a Denso unit not Bosch.
But that is a super clean engine way. Great work Mike!!!!!!

Thanks Georg!
The alternator is a Denso for sure, however, it was rebuilt by Bosch and sold by AutoZone.

Lol! You know me, just cattin' around! I'm lurking these days, on and off, just trying to stay plugged in to the goings on and researching. I've gravitated towards the 60s as of late due to bigger size for the family. Of course, a 40 is still out there somewhere at some point.

Your rig is looking great! Man, too pretty and nice to drive it off-road!!!

There are plenty of 60s out there, good luck with your search! Let me know if you need any assistance.

Waxed the cruiser today and for the first time I realized how beautiful the Toyota Freeborn red color was, they did an excellent job in selecting FJ40 colors!

Uh oh, now you're at risk of it becoming a garage queen - only comes out for car shows and holiday parades :p

Not a chance Bud, never been to car show nor a parade! She's a daily working girl, and takes a bath at least once a year and she cleans up pretty well. I water her sparingly, don't want any rust issues by showering her too often.:pig:
