Methanol Injection: What Are The True Performance Gains?

I think with the injection, a 2.8 pulley would be fine. If the injection system ever failed, you would still be able to baby it along. That is assuming it's an obd II truck. Obd I runs leaner so I hear.

Super cool. Thanks for the insight guys. It's cooling down here in northern NV, so I'm going to first try a couple of pulley sizes per scottyrana's suggestion regarding knock monitoring. Then I'll go with the meth injection in the spring....

i need to make a custom pulley puller to get my stock pulley off, otherwise, I will have to pull the charger to get a normal puller on it. Just gotta make time to do it. I've got my snowmobile pulled apart and it's almost winter, my daughter's 80 in the garage for a head gasket (for me to drive this winter) , and lots of firewood to cut. Minor setbacks

PS- here are the full measurements, now confirmed with Pulley Boys, on the stock pulley-

I lost 2 seconds on 0-60 going from 3.25" to 2.6".

Did you have trouble with clearance with the 2.6"? Also, did you have any issue with engine knock?

I think he meant he lost 2 seconds as in 11 secs down to like 9 secs.

huh? please explain, logic would seem you would be going faster, ie: more boost???

I just dropped in the 2.8" pulley wheel and have noticed a positive difference, albeit subtle, going uphill. No knock, no codes, everything looking fine in fall weather. I am dubious I've gained anything beyond a second on a 0-60 pull.

I'd take that second. Nice

Sure. I'm not complaining... But the next step is the meth injection.

Guys, I forgot to finalize this thread... I did wind up getting a 2.8 pulley, which consistently pulls at about 5-6 PSI based on my cheapo boost gauge. I will be purchasing the Snow Performance meth injection here shortly... and ahead of Cruise Moab ;)

here is something I'd like to see.

Get on the highway in 2nd gear and record the timing through the OBDII port at WOT.

At 4800 rpms I'm at 40* btdc, with the stock timing adjustment

I don't think you guys are near that high.

landtank, sorry, what are you running? sc? meth? advanced / non-stock timing?
