I just bought a 2004 GX with 92k miles. It is not the color that I wanted but with the service record this truck has I could not pass it up. I am even flying a 1000 miles to go get it and bring it back! I am coming from a Subaru BRZ so this is going to be a very big change for me.
According to the GX map I am the first person on this forum in Nashville but I am looking to get out into the surrounding states to find trails and camping spots so if you have any recommendations then please let me know. This build will be slow and leaning towards overlanding more than any intense off roading. I am coming from a Subaru BRZ so this is going to be a very big change for me.
I am picking it up in a little over a week so I will post some photos then.
Log of changes:
2/23/17: Fixed my AC for the time being. It was only blowing cold on the passenger side 100% of the time and on the drivers side about 20% of the time. I got a guage and the freon was very low but not out. I got a charge pack and plugged it in and bam ice cold air again. The charge port is under the passenger side engine cover right up towards the front with a little grey cap on it. Hopefully it was a very slow leak or I will need to have someone look at it.
4/10/17: Just ordered the Frontrunner Slimline II Roof Rack. I got the tent adapters, awning brackets, 2 sets of stainless tie downs, and the bottle opener (because why not) for about $1,200. I am hoping it gets here soon.
4/18/17: Frontrunner Slimline II Roof Rack is all assembled. If the weather holds I am going to try and get the roof rack itself on tonight. I will try and take pictures once it is on.
4/20/17: I got the roof mounts on and the stock rack uninstalled yesterday. I put on the actual rack and finished as the rain started tonight.
4/21/17: Roof rack is on but I didn't get the wind deflectors on so I sound like a giant Kazoo driving down the road.
4/25/17: The ARB 2000 awning is on. I set it up in about 5 minutes alone in the dark for the first time. I am using the Front Runner awning brackets so installation was pretty straight forward.
4/26/17: I am planning on taking off the running boards so I got some opt7 led lights to replace the little lights that are stock.
4/27/17: The kazoo sound from the new rack was gone thanks to the weight of the Arb awning and I planned on making it silent by adding the wind deflectors. Well, I put those on today and the kazoo is gone but I left a 2mm gap between the deflectors and now I get a high pitch whistle. I am going to have to adjust them tomorrow.
