J, that is a great idea! I actually have about 10 bags laying around in the barn. I will have to try that out before I do anything. And I met a guy on the trail yesterday that has a set of 37 military MTRs on black steelies on his fj80 that have around 65% tread. He said he might be willing to sell them pretty cheap so 37s might be in the near future for me!
yeah they are about 140 to 150 LBS depending on what you have in them. They are a B*tch to change out and lift. Once you go that route you'll probably notice your brakes need an upgrade, so go ahead and plan for a fzj80 rear axle too.
good stuff, looks like you got a game plan at least. there are rear disk kits available, with your welding skills should be easy.I have a FF rear axle that is getting shipped over from Guatemala. So hopefully I can figure out a way to put rear disk brakes on that. I can already tell even with 35s that I need better brakes.
I am leaning more towards that. I will most likely throw some concrete bags in the back for now and see if that fixes the problem and then proceed to do the mods that will increase the weight. I appreciate the compliment.I wouldn't steepen the front angle, I would seriously consider reducing the rear shackle angle if the weight doesn't clear it up you'll get more travel and potentially a better ride. I would be looking for ways to lower it, that is a very tall 60 for taking off-road. Great looking truck.
Thanks J. And I totally agree, I come up with the ideas and he helps me build them. It's always nice to have a wood nut in the family!Nice Mj. I likey...
Its those things/memories no one can ever take away.
