shifter looks nice. I can't remember, but do you have a 5 speed in there?
Thanks Mike! Any word regarding the beach trip this summer? And I sure do, bought a h55 from the toyota dealership about 4 years ago when my dad and I rebuilt my motor. It's the best mod that I have done so far.

There's that world record river float in the 26 of July, and No official date on another beach trip though there is interest. I'm gonna go again if no one else goes. We can convoy together if nothing else.

Now lets see that roof rack. How much did it end up weighing?

J
I will snap a pic tomorrow when I go out to the barn. I can lift it pretty effortlessly, but I haven't weighed it on a scale yet.. Forgot to mention earlier that I still need to get a sheet of expanded metal for the base and a piece of 10ga for the wind gaurd. So I guess it's not "done" but the main structure is completed. Still contemplating on doing an aluminum base opposed to the stainless expanded metal to cut weight, but then I wouldn't be able to weld it on.

Sounds like a plan to me, and does the tube float happen to be on the Guadalupe? I live 10 min from the canyon lake dam where most people tube.

Cut out a rainbow trout for my wind guard for my roof rack. Used a plasma cutter and a drill press for the spots and eyes, it turned out pretty cool.

That is awesome work son. Wish I was not out of town and could have seen what you did with the plasma cutter. Pretty nice work. Was Granddaddy evaluating your progress?
Thanks dad, and ya he helped me drill the holes.

just when I think I couldn't be more impressed, you go and pull off something like this. Great job.

Really cool, I kinda thought I was happy with my oxy setup til I saw how clean and neat that is.

@The Phoenician & @90FJ I appreciate the compliments fellas. The plasma cutter is a lot easier to control how much you cut/melt than the torch IMO, plus it is nice not having to switch out tanks all the time.

Welded the wind guard onto my roof rack this afternoon. I am going to go get some expanded metal for the base tomorrow so that I can get this SOB done this weekend. Oh and LOTS of grinding pads:hillbilly:

that trout is the coolest thing I've seen all week :D

Nice work MJ. Do you have the gutter mounts figured out yet?

J
Thanks J, I am still on the fence about getting some from gamiviti or just making my own. I am ready to start on other projects and get this rack on my rig so I am most likely going to order them. Still need to get it powder coated as well. All in due time I suppose.

I would share my new design if I weren't about to start fabbing and selling mine. Once I have them out, they are open game for piracy..Hee Hee!.. just trying to keep my ideas on the low for a few more weeks.

The Gamiviti GM's are a good strong design, you won't regret that purchase decision IMO.

No sweat J, I am going to get the gamiviti ones hopefully sometime next week. Just need to find the end of a rainbow for a pot of gold lol.

Quick update since it's been a while. I never completed my roof rack due to lack of time, so I have decided to hand it over to my dad for his 60. I have been digging the bare roof look anyways. Still saving up for a set of 37s and am going to need to get them pretty soon since my BFG's have acquired a few sidewall tears from wheeling. Here's a couple of pics from last weekend at Hidden Falls:

Well been MIA on my thread for a while. My cruiser is still running great. My tires are finally wearing down enough to where I have a reason to get 37s hopefully this summer. Anyways, after living through @reevski 's thread for a while, and missing the smell of welding fumes I decided to finish up my roof rack this past weekend while I was home. All that is left is to bolt on the brackets and get it powder coated. I put it on my dads cruiser since it is lower and the rack is pretty heavy. Pics:
