In fact, here is one such setup. looks to still be for sale even. And you both look to be in Alabama...

A few options really. Marks 4wd or advanced adapters Chevy conversion Bell housings, along with either doomsday diesel or speed gems Chevy transmission adapters for the 606. May be others.
Oh man, I am defi

Oh man, I am definitely going to check that out. Thanks for the find.

Trying to bring this thread back a little bit. I just got an OM606 and am planning on charging ahead with this swap into my 40. Does the OM606 to Chevy adapter put the correct angle on the transmission relative to the engine?

The engine will be slanted like normal for the 606. As far as transmission clocking, I believe 40s and early 60s had the trans level but 85+ were clocked down a bit more (?). I have not seen these adapters on person but assume they are configured to have the trans level.

DPUK’s H55F adapter should work with an H41/2 or H55F if you combine it with the bell housing from an 2H series diesel powered 70 series. That’s what I’ll be doing for my swap. My adapter should be here in 2 weeks. I’ll bolt it all together and update here and in my build thread.
Where did you find the bellhousing? I have been searching to no avail.

From what I have read it would work in a 40, the 60s make it more complicated with having to remount the trans. Not 100% on this though.

That would be amazing. Please keep us updated. I was planning on making my own adapter/flywheel but didn’t really want to if it’s not necessary haha

It fits

Amazing. Are you using the clutch fork, slave, and throw out bearing from the 2H as well? Or are you using your 2F parts?
Yes, you’ll need the bell housing, clutch fork, slave, pins and throwout bearing hub from the 2H for it to work. I got the later style bell from a 70 series which has the correct clocking of the trans to work with my late ‘85 FJ60 crossmember. The kit will include a bearing to suit the new pressure plate.

Good to know. Mine is going in a 40 so the crossmember will probably have to be modified.

Separate question; does the flywheel look like it’s the stock automatic flywheel with an aluminum extension bolted to it with the 6 bolts?

Nice! It’s a thick, aluminum, one piece flywheel with steel ring gear and a steel insert for the friction plate. Bolts up to the crank like factory.

I have a few 2H/12HT bell housings if someone needs. Pls DM me.

I also just picked up an OM606 from a 98 e300 with only 88k miles on it. planning on running an h55. Just purchased a 2h bellhousing from cruiser spares in Australia (paid a little extra for tariffs but it wasn't too bad). They also had the shift fork, collar, and bearing which was nice. I'm planning to run the DPUK adapter for the H55. still trying to determine what mechanical pump to run but leaning towards all DPUK stuff. Shooting for about 300hp with the HX30 turbo. Im sure ill have a lot more questions and answers as I start to assemble things but for now just collecting parts. Hoping to start the swap in December.

The engine I purchased came with ton of parts, S257 turbo kit from benzforce with turbosmart wastegate (i don't think the H55 and split case can handle the power from the S257 so thats why im swapping to the HX30), a few different exhaust manifolds, lots of engine parts, oil filter relocation kit... I've got a pretty good start regarding parts but have very little knowledge about these motors so just trying to do as much research as I can before I start the swap.

Looking forward to following your progress on this build! Ill start a thread of my own when I actually start assembling things and get the swap started. good luck!
