I pulled my spare wheel because I'm getting new tires all around and it's actually grey. I have a Jan '66 build date.
Man. Someone just posted a brochure from 67 and all the wheels were black except the LV. They were grey.
That said, I’m no expert but the 1968 factory brochure scans Treeroot gave me, the wheels were black.
Cool find on the spare. My 1967 LPB is/was 100% original and all 5 wheels were black

I hope you don’t mind me cluttering up your thread I always enjoy trying to figure out why and when Toyota made changes...
That’s actually a 1965 45 pictured. If you notice Toyota hand drew/removed the fresh air vent at the bottom of the windshield from the picture next to the grader. But they left in the diagonal air inlet for the heater both of which ended in ‘65.
As I mentioned earlier Toyota loved recycling earlier model year images and crudely hand doctoring them to fit the correct model year changes appropriate for that years brochure.
Some of the doctoring are quiet amateurish and comical.
There is a center pin, likely rusty and corroded, try some penetrant and a small pry bar at the center area, slow and easy!
My 1968 also has a set-screw down the B pillar that puts pressure on the center pin. I have not checked to see if 45 has it.

On the advice of a wiser, smarter friend I ran tubes and rust bands. So what's the verdict on needing to run tubes in the riveted wheels? According to my tire tech a couple of the wheels had tubes, a couple didn't. They all seemed to be holding air fine. Anyone see a need for tubes in these wheels?
