I think it is just Toyota vac/smog hose.

Archie, the original line has a ribbed exterior if that matters to you. I think someone makes it for early VW's. I solved that problem for myself....

Yeah, that's why I am looking for spec information on OD & ID so that I can find an outside supplier. I know Trico made some that has ribbs. A closer look at the picture John posted revels the existence of ribs on Toyota hose, but I may be wrong. May be John @pardion can confirm that.

Toyota hose I used has 1 rib. John

g'day all. have sorta been having a discussion with archie re variations in the early f rocker cover because we are trying to find one for his resto. seems to me the early one is vented direct to the atmosphere via the row of slots along the top while on the later version the slots have been welded closed at the factory and vent tube installed to the rocker cover. i dont know when this change occurred. unfortunately i have done my camera in and will be a whiles before i can get to the city to sort this. wondering if someone might be kind enough to post up a pic of the 2 different types. thanks.

1961 I believe. The vents were welded and the hose added. That cover does not belong with a motor that has the draft tube oil fill.

My early 61 FJ40 valve cover has the vent tube going to the air cleaner and the hose from the fill tube to the base of the carburetor. This setup filtered the air replacing air drawn in the base of the carb under vacuum. This system moved a lot more air then the earlier draft style. With the slits and tube to the carb base would be afraid of how much dust/dirt would be drawn into the internal part of the engine. FYI my late 1960 FJ25 still has the draft tube and slits.

Thanks Henry for initiating this discussion and Jim and John for clarifications. I need an early rocker / valve cover to go on 1974 F.5 motor, its more of a cosmetic requirement just to maintain an early old school look. I guess a cover from a F-135 would be good for my cause. I am looking at welding oil filler tube either on the top of valve cover (same as F-155 valve cover) or to the side cover of the motor.

Sometime back I tried to test fit fan shroud and found out that fan won't align and clear the shroud opening or in other words it will surely hit the shroud if I try to run. It definitely seems an alignment problem than the size of the fan. I have got 5 blade plastic fan on it at the moment which eventually will be replaced with a 5 blade riveted stock metal fan below (I don't have 4 blade welded metal fan and have heard they crack and cause whole lot of issues anyways). Both the fans are same size in diameter. Radiator and shroud are stock FJ25.

Now the motor is F.5 with 2F style water pump on it and I am thinking that could be a part of the issue. So do I need an early water pump from a Siamese port F motor and will it bolt on to F.5 motor? Are there any differences within F motor water pumps?

Yes, the F135 pumps featured the straight water pump inlet and used two small hoses with the steel "S" pipe between. A later F145 or F155 pump can be used with the later hose, however.

Thanks @Splangy , but is pulley location different too, I mean does fan mounts little lower on F135 water pumps? at the moment on mine fan is sitting little higher and leaning more towards alternator side inside the shroud.

Guys, finally Sheriff made it to engineering shop in my absence. I will be in there next week to tackle on door surrounds and then front bumper. I need measurements and hole locations on FJ25 front bumper. I recall seeing this information on front bumper somewhere in one of the threads but couldn't find it.

Also need part number for shock absorbers, both front and rear.

that'd be freakin' awesome. don't suppose you plan on making soft door frames too?

I am going to redo my frames as well. I got them made earlier by Proffits Cruisers but they didn't have right bender to get correct radius. Well at-least I got pattern. do you know correct radius for corners? I am assuming they are same as passenger seat frame.
