Thanks John. Would I be able to swap the steering shaft though? I mean will one from 71, 40 box go into 25 steering box?

For speedo this is interesting as I have got no linkage or drive gear on transfer box. On mine speedo cable is going all the way to rear axel. I hope I am not missing any link in between.

Looking at this https://www.sor.com/catproducts.sor?from=098&part.number=098-24&tabpage=TAB2 I'm guessing you could rebuild a early thru 67 model box with a 68 model thru 72 model shaft. The only difference SOR show is the spline count change 7/69.

Not sure I've even seen a speedo cable running to the rear axle on a FJ25. All mine go to the transfer case rear output. They are very long. They run across the top of the firewall to then down to the right frame rail then come in from the right side. All the FJ40s I have just go down the firewall then run back to the left side of the transfer case rear output.

Not much progress, but manage to rebuilt steering box. Unfortunately 33 spline shaft will not fit in 25 steering box, sector shaft is a bit longer. hopefully one day I will find the 25 steering wheel, meanwhile thinking of modifying steering wheel splines to fit on 36 spline shaft. (I have couple of early 70's steering wheels)

Nice to see you posting Archie. Keep us updated. Chances of finding a 61 to 7/69 FJ40 steering wheel will be better than finding a FJ25 steering wheel. Can't remember do you have the original turn signal switch? The early FJ40 turn signal switch is still available with only a slight notch needed at the bottom of the dash to install.

FJ25 in military service, could be mine (LOL)

Fidel called, he wants his 25 back.

Where'd you find that pic Archie? I have a.print of it.

Thanks mate much appericiated, Wes is a lucky guy. I got part number 27700-30030 for a voltage regulator is this correct for the early one?

Also please post if you have the part number for clear bib lights, FJ25 indicator switch, tall thermostat housings and Winkers / semaphores. I got a lead in Japan thru a friend, there is a old retailer with some some early parts for Japanese cars. The owner is very old (not computer savvy) and wont sale online or ship overseas. I can ask my friend to ship it but need to email him these part numbers first to make sure he got it, I am also scheduled to go to Japan in December so will have an opportunity to hand pick them provided if anything is available.

Here is a picture of the NOS regulator Wes found for sale on the internets. It is no longer available as far as I know.

Glimpse of original colour under the current skin...! Jim @cruisernerd also found this exact same colour on one of his FJ25 here. IMO closest match seems to be T303 (Fashion Green / Sage Green).

It is definitely a lighter "Olive Green / Olive Gray" similar to following T303 shade -

Noticed @treerootCO project Hope has the same color in the glovebox. ;)

Thanks Jim! @treerootCO, sure Project Hope has the same colour. So it is consistent for 1959 "A" Type 25's. I vote @JohnnyC for further digging in on this colour.

Now we are sure of a different shade of green was on offer in 1959 and possibly earlier. Also it seems following "Toyoace SKB" colour is similar too.
