Man A Fre Brake lines

Ok Ive currently got SLEE SS brakeline and they have about 4 yrs on them, I got replacement from man A fre along with TREs My question is why are the slee or dorman for that matter so much larger in diameter than the man a fre' anyone use them and have an opinion either way??

what Im not digging about the old lines is the cracking and plastic thats all peeled off, plus Im trying to tighten up the brakes as much as possible, hence replacing rotor pads and calipers and then last is brakelines. which is where im at right now.

Ok, then what about dorman brake lines? Now I know your going to say OEM, BUt I already have slee,man afree and dorman the latter are new in the box. s which would you use.

Well I ordered calipers and brake lines came with them, I used the calipers didnt like the made in china dorman lines. couldnt get thru to slee so went with man a fre, Now that Im comparing the brake lines I noticed the man afres are half the diameter of the slee lines, the point of this thred is actually self evident. Its a forum for 80 owners to ask others thier opinions. and normally in a forum if someone dosent understand the thread the leave it to someone else that does. I apoligize for asking for asking which were better in others opinions. and just an FYI Im not an 80 expert. but I am a heating expert and braided lines always outperform stand alone rubber.

Brakes are one system I never like skimping out on. Stainless Steel brake lines are great where you are worried about crush resistance, but they should be changed regularly. That's why so few OEM's go that route.

Personally, I would do option 4 and get OEM, second choice would be the dorman. Chinesium steel is known to suck, but I'm sure even chinesium rubber will get sufficient use. I would check it regularly for accelerated wear.

FWIW, our lines used to have a plastic outer layer that was purely cosmetic. Over time we found out that the plastic they use for that layer cracked and did look bad, however it did not effect the performance of the lines. Sometime ago, we stopped selling lines with that outer layer. So all current lines do not have that layer.

Are you talking about inner diameter or outer diameter? Outer diameter is kind of irrelevant and is only determined because of the hose construction. As long as the inner diameter of the hose is the same as the inner diameter of the solid line or bigger then they are adequate to use. Stainless steel hoses have some positive and negatives. I have stainless hoses, I like to think they have lasted longer than rubber.
