@arndog My padding was in decent condition. On the Etsy site one reviewer stated they needed to by some new padding from a local upholstery shop. I am sure you could find some padding online.

I tried searching but came up empty. I needed to replace one of my tail light covers. The black plastic piece that is between the tail light assembly and the body. I need to purchase some of that black sticky stuff. The product is also used...

I noticed one of the chemicals used in your run-of-the-mill washer fluid has methanol in it. Could that be causing failure? I also found some washer fluids sold without methanol it, so maybe try running that when you replace it again? "But...

@60 toy ota The material seems strong. I got mine on sale and am very pleased with it. Again, mine is faux leather. They offer it in a carbon fiber vinyl too. I can't speak to that.

Found this cover on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/663884522/fits-toyota-land-cruiser-1990-1997? It was super easy to do. I decided on the faux leather. The steps are: Remove console lid (2 Philips screws) Remove 8 small screws on the...

Well, I tried that with the first two I installed. Then I read a thread about trying distilled water. The thought was that the crusty white material left behind when wiper fluid dries may cause, or contribute, to the failure. For future reads...

If you use actual washer fluid, it acts as a lubricant and can extend the life of the components. Distilled water has no lubricity to it and may a partial cause for early failure.

Anyone do this mod that can verify length of life? I need to replace my diverter...AGAIN :bang: I use distilled water and have had to replace my OEM diverter every 2-3 years. I think the last one I bought lasted just over a year.

^^^^ FWIW.... a ground that is 'nice and tight' doesn't mean it is good. Anytime I encounter a suspected ground issue, I will remove the ground point, inspect the terminal end and surface area it connects to. Clean both really well...

I have broken and replaced the rear marker a few times, on both sides. Sometimes I bump things.. I made these as block off plates. Also made a set with some Leds, I'll probably swap out the Amber's for red. The new leds plug into the...

This sounds like a diode on the brake line would fix it. A problem I've seen with some LED combo lamps is they allow power to back feed other circuits. When the turn signal is on, yours probably pulses back the brake wire. The cruise must be...

thedoughboy reacted to SmokingRocks's post in the thread Inline Resistor - HOT with Like Like.
A diode might work, the issue with them is they usually drop the forward voltage (voltage seen after the diode) considerably, sometimes enough to induce issues with the device needing power. Also you'd need a pretty high capacity (wattage) diode...

Thanks, I use to loathe anything electrical until I was forced to deal with the PO's hatchet job he had done to the harness. Once I figured out it was the same concept as water flowing through pipes it made a lot more sense. Voltage = PSI...

So as stated by others your resistors wattage rating is likely too low for the wattage of the LED lamps, even if the LED lamp is 5 watts and you use a 5 watt resistor it may create a lot of heat. If you oversize the resistor to say a 10 watt...

Well, one would think. I installed the resistors ~7 years ago. Everything works as designed with the resistors installed on the brake line. I just pulled the resistors and the cruise control cancels when I use my turn signals. Interesting...

thedoughboy replied to the thread Inline Resistor - HOT.
After refreshing my memory I found out a few things. The resistor was installed to correct a cruise control malfunction. Without the resistor, the cruise control turns off when using the turn signals. It also turns off when the brakes are...

Thanks for your input. Interesting, some individuals have reported that they did not need a resistor when using these lights. From what you said this would indicate their DEPO tail lights had the correct output LED installed. I am going to...

thedoughboy replied to the thread Inline Resistor - HOT.
The rear DEPO tail and brake lights are built in LED panels. They are much brighter and clearer than OEM. In addition, you can run pretty high wattage reverse lights. I know I could run the old stuff but I like figuring this stuff out.

I would need to remove my tail light to find out. Do you have a recommendation on what I should use? I bought some resistors of eBay (I believe) recommended by thread on DEPO Led lights. I am trying to track that thread down but am not having...
