I currently own a 2010 Mercedes E550 it's a great car but a little tired of all these repairs becoming too frequent. I was told to buy one of these originally, but didn't listen oh well live and learn. I current taking on this project of this blizzard pearl 2005 LX470 168k one owner from Texas no rust. It was purchased from the auction in Texas and has more damage then expected (Needs solid amount of body work, left tail light is cracked, missing bumper hitch cover, spoiler was removed, left running board is a little messed up (no big deal they're coming off), sun roof doesn't work, telescopic steering wheel in and out didn't work either, lots of stains, extremely dirty, weird mistibishi master key for it). It's a fixer upper, and should clean up well. It does have the night vision package. It's currently in the shop . I'm really trying to learn some more about preventive maintence, and some simple baselining. I'd like to be in it for around 10k running good with body work, and a set of bf goodrich k02 (32 or 33). I've read numerous threads and have done a lot of research I think it's going to be fun to clean up. I will be using this as my daily so here's a list of things I'd like to do this year

Also wondering what all the night vison package includes and the difference in the trims? I haven't seen much about the night vison and that trim level.

I finally got to test the AHC system and it worked smoothly. Pretty good news on that end and I plan to do the AHC bleed myself soon. The car is still extremely dirty, and the sunroof is stuck open on the tilt which the tilt was working but wasn't closing. I think it needs to just be cleaned and lubbed. Also I tested the headlights and they're aftermarket LED headlights, so debating on searching for some OEM glass headlights in the near future. I don't know how that works with Night Vision. Still a little confused on how Night Vision works, also need to get this little chip in the windshield fixed.

Little update I just received the new transfer case hopefully it gets installed tomorrow if not early sometime next week. With the transmission finally I tested the AHC system and it worked smoothly, but it's extremely dirty, and the sunroof is stuck open I think it needs to just be cleaned and lubbed. Also test the headlights and appears they're LED headlights I don't know how that works with Night Vision. Still a little confused on how Night Vision works, also need to get this little chip in the windshield fixed. It's good that there's no rust I took some pics. Also does anyone have a oem rear spoiler for sale preferrable white?

Night vision uses the small round lights in the bumper. Those are after market headlights and i believe its just the halo ring that is LED ...

Oh I didn’t know that does that mean they require a special bulb? As for the after market headlights I might have to keep them for a bit until I get around to that. Body work, Tires, baselining and getting some simple stuff done right now. Maybe I’ll like the LED’s though. If anyone has a left tail light and or a rear spoiler for sale I’ll also be getting rid of my running boards if anyone has any interest.

Did you check to see if the Night Vision works? Those light I believe are infrared ... they do not light up and the LED headlights use a halogen bulb as the main light

If I remember correctly, they are a standard H11 bulb, the IR "magic" is done with a filter in the light housing.

I haven't really had much time with the lx yet. I really haven't seen if the night vison works I saw it has the little head up spot on the windshield. I was just working on seeing how the engine is sounding and the height control. It should be done either tomorrow or tuesday, I'll be checking mainly how it's running but it's sounding pretty good so I'm not really worried. Next a full interior and exterior clean maybe work on trying to get some of the dents out before taking to the body shop. Then I'm going to check out the night visoin and seeing how everything functions.

Alright that's good news I was praying it wasn't some special bulb the $1500 windshield is already enough, I have little crack in the windshield already so that needs to be fixed. I'm hoping the night vision works because I'm not going to put my focus on fixing it if it's messd up.

Yes, standard H11 55W bulbs. I’ve a slide deck on the night view system which I’ll attach later on.
Alright dope I haven't seen much on the night vision it'd be cool to see yours. I live in the country and feel like the night vision would help as there are a lot of deer and animals popping up on the road.

Finally got the LX today and did a light clean up. Runs pretty smoothly also my night view was opening when I first picked it up but after cleaning it no longer would open. This definently is a project and I plan to start knocking stuff soon.
My todo list is
Full detail
Fluid Flush
Paint/ body work
Sunroof fully closed
New tires and wheels sandblast
Lexus recalls finished

Took the running boards off starting to look pretty decent the project begins. Looking at getting some new tires and wheels painted. Truck is running pretty solid does have a little clunk, and seems like the outside trim piece by the window might need repacing as there seems to be a little wind noise coming in. The night view works really good in rural area.

Also scheduled the recall repairs on Thursday. Looking for some good mudflat option for the front and back without them sticking out and eventually gonna get some sliders

Got the lx back today from my pdr guy turned out really good he got all the dents out and fixed the bent hood and the pretty messed up fenders. Also had Lexus fix two of the recalls today. Weather has been pretty s***ty so I haven’t had a good chance to work on it wanting to replace heater t’s, flush the fluids, adjust the headlights, debating painting the wheels myself, fix the sunroof, fix telescopic steering wheel, grease it, paint the undercoat to keep it rust free, and replace spark plugs. Next week I’m going to get two new oem keys , sand blast the wheels (I’ll have to rock some other wheels, get some tires ordered, get the windshield chips repaired and check there maybe a little leak, get an alignment, adjust headlights, wanting to shampoo the carpets and steam the headliner. After my car sells I’ll look at the paintwork to get both bumpers repaired and I order the pieces around the headlights as they’re broken. Overall pretty happy with truck can’t wait to fix it up love the quality of it hopefully can get ready to take on a trip.
