Haha, no Santa will be leaving coal in my stocking I am sure. lol.

Hell if this doesn't work just like I want I am pulling all the turbo stuff off going stock and using the Haltech and the Turbo on a go fast car. lol.

Not going to lie though this pic has me really thinking.....

I think you are losing sight of one important factor.... it's a cruiser!

Ryan, if you go with individual coils see if the Corolla COP will work 1ZZ engine I think it was. I had them on my Supra and Corolla 86 and they worked awesome, never once ran out of spark energy. They can be had dirt cheap too.

Here is a pic, easy to find at most import auto wreckers and I have yet to see one fail.

Nope not losing sight of that at all. Coil on plugs would not take away from reliability at all in my mind.

I have heard this several times that guys don't want a sports car so they are against the turbo, but turbo's have been used in diesel applications with nothing but low end. It is simply a matter of choosing the right turbo for the application. The other thing that people have to remember is that when people are comparing a turbo motor to a non turbo motor the non turbo motor CAN be built with higher compression to give more power than the lower compression turbo motor when not under boost, but since we are not starting from scratch the compression is already set so you won't ever see LESS power than you would in a stock 1FZ-FE.

The 80 already has computer controlled ignition so it isn't like I would be introducing extra tech that could fail, in fact COP lasts much longer than distributor, rotor, wires and plugs.

Glad to see my plan worked.....

Consider it payback for being a contributor to the Swine Flu I've contracted.

"SWINEFLU"

Too bad it's 8 letters..... Perfect plate you've been looking for! LOLOLOLOL

Ha, is that what it was? ;) I had already been thinking about it, and I probably won't do it, but it would be cool to have complete control over, spark, fuel, timing and boost, and do it sequentially

Glad to see my plan worked.....

Ok I resisted the urges to mess with it any more, no crazy ignition systems etc, just run it how it is and leave the damn thing alone. Got the transmission finished, the transmission guru says it should be good for 700hp. Also installed the Haltech and cleaned up the tune a lot. Picked up another 60hp and 60ft/lbs in the midrange, the tuner was so happy to get away from the AEM he said the Haltech was a thousand times better. haha. Hope he doesn't care I stole these pics from their instagram page. lol.

Platinum Sport 2000

Running full MAP so no more MAF issues when blowoff opens
Rev limiter by engine coolant temp
Maps set by octane so I can run 93 here in Texas and a 91 map for CO/UT etc
Overboost limit with hard or soft limiter
Engine protection by temp
Air temp and coolant temp fuel and ignition correction

It is a very nice setup.

I am running the Haltech in parallel. The Haltech takes control of the fuel pump, injectors, ignition, picks up the cam and crank, coolant temp, air intake temp, wideband O2, etc. Haltech does all of the combustion while the stock computer can run all the extras and the transmission still gets what it is looking for. You basically wire the Haltech like you did the AEM with a few extra connections but you take over the signals and do what you want with them instead of trying to modify the stock signals from the OEM computer.

Interesting. So the factory ecu still gets the stock signals and send outs signals, but they never reach the targets?

I think you will be really happy with the outcome. I liked the truck before but the quirks of the piggyback I was never really happy with having full control is not only easier to tune but safer
