I just finalized the deal with my 78 FJ40 and i am extremely excited and cant wait untill I get s to my house. I purchased the cruiser from a really cool guy in Denver. The cruiser only has approx. 80K original miles on the clock and is in excellent mechincal condition. The cruiser actually has a factory PTO winch! . i am pretty sure that is a really rare option. It also has a Old Man Emu lift..Anyways, it's been a long time comin, but I am finally part of the 40 series crew ;) ! although 80 still rule! LOL...........Here are a couple of pics:

Has that been repainted?

I thought that all rigs with the factory-installed winch had an instruction sticker placed on the dash.

thats a good question....although i dont see any space were it would possibly go? The only places that were repainted were the 2 quarter panels due to the previuos owner doing a little bit of body work to them, and also the roof top was painted white again...

Sweet

Since I have butchered my 40 with all chevy stuff, I would love to have a real factory looking 40 again someday.

Nice rig. I love the winch.

While you're bragging, how much did you pay?

lets just say I paid a pretty penny for it.....Since this is tech, I should be able to fit 33x9.5 tires on this stock rim right? What is the width on the stock rim?

That is a beautiful truck. Congrats. I'm sure it was expensive in that condition. I thought that by 78 the PTO winch was no longer available. I could be wrong though. That truck is so nice, I wouldn't mess with it much. Keep it stock and it will hold it's value for years. Now you need a beater FJ40!

Thanks cruiserdrew..I am thinking about locking it up via ARB's, but I dont think I will bw wheelin it like I wheel my 80.....We'll see... Any info on the rims?

The rims look like stock 15 inchers. Painted white like mine.
33x 9.5's will fit fine.

Beautiful truck you got there! Congrats

What is your build date?

Also, would you mind posting photos of your engine bay? I'm hoping you still have all the smog crap on there so I can see another example of what an original looked like.

p.s. I swear I saw that rig on ebay last year... I recognize the building in the background.
