Had a couple free hours so I rebuilt the power steering pump.
My vise broke and I am waiting on a replacement so I had to improvise. Worked great. I also used the same setup to torque the nut to 54ft-lbs.

New parts bag from Toyota.

I have a pilot bearing puller that worked great to remove the last part of the assembly.

All parts cleaned and inspected.

Reassembled and a container of old wear parts.

I used the ARP 2034205 Stud Kit with no problem. I think it’s for a Supra 2JZ.

I can't seem to get my hands on those either.
Any opinions on Cometic gasket with OEM head bolts?

It really is amazing how it's barely worn. I think new rings and the engine will run another 200k.

At this point I need to get the cometic gasket and ARP studs. These two items might be holding this project up. I ordered everything 2.5 weeks ago. Still no ETA. I need to be done with it in 30 days. Anyone have leads on these two items? I will send you my ordered bits when they arrive and some beer!

The last set of Opel ARP studs I got came off Amazon. Stock was showing limited everywhere when I bought them.

Personally I go the opposite. ARPs with OEM head gasket. We torque to 90ftlbs in 15ftlb increments.

Really nothing wrong with OEM head bolts, they were fine for what 300,000+ miles on this engine.

1. All OEM. Head bolts and gasket as designed by Toyota.
2. OEM head bolts and Cometic gasket (if it arrives).

I am prepping the new motor for a future turbo add-on and this is the ideal time to select best materials. I do think option 1 will do great but if I can get studs and a MLS gasket it would be just a little bit better.

Time to finish: 4 weeks.

I got some of the ARPs around but I don’t think enough to put a full kit together for you. The Opel ARP kit iirc you have like four left over. I been through four kits in the last 8 months.

Wow! If you are able to put together a full or even a partial kit that would be helpful. Maybe other members have some lefts over studs to complete 1 full kit.

Ya we can probably do that if somebody else has a few.

Spoke to Toyota and they are backed up so I don't think I will get the block in time. @SNLC thanks for the offer on studs but this project will be all OEM now.
Not the end of the world. Adjust, adapt, and overcome.
I will put the new motor into a different project. Let's inspect the bearings and crank then button it up with new parts. If you see anything please let me know.
