Have been cranking it for several minutes several times, ran it a few times for a minute at a time...still no oil at the rockers. We can think of several reasons why (Been sitting for years, old cold thick oil). Should we be more worried?

Nice Cruiser, I would check the oil pressure releif valve on the side of the block, take it apart, clean it and put it back together. Is your IDIOT light for the oil pressure lit? Can you T in another oil pressure gauge. You might have an oil can handy to lube up that rocker assy on your next fire up. I would bet if you two cleaned up that carb a bit and loosened all the flappers, it would not need to be bottle fed. Love to see old forgetten cruiser's wake up! John

Is that the orig 61 carb with the larger window but not blue plate or is that another one you had ige?

It's a sweet original rig and i'm finally glad it's in your hands. I thought Timm was going to mod it all up.:bang:

this is the carb that was on the rig, but it's not a big window.

Or could of happened what happened to the 62 I have the tub from. Parted out. :bang: The tub is the cleanest early one I've seen. Even the rear sill is rust free. :crybaby:

Nope, no oilpressure idiot light lighting up. But that may not mean much.
Have been able to loosen up the choke flapper enough for the cable to move it closed but not open, lower flapper is still stuck closed. Boss here says I'm not allowed to take apart another carb until I put the one on the living room table back together...so I just spray another daily dose of PB blaster on Annie's lower flapper.

Speaking of idiot lights, is the oilpressure idiot light supposed to light up with the ignition on? Like the charge light does? Which ours does not...

It's been a while, but yes, I think it and the charge light are on when the key is on, then they go off when the engine is running.

valve cover's cleaned up and painted with the first coat of mro paint. will do another coat tomorrow. in the meantime, it's in the house where it's warm to ensure it dries. was -6 this morning, so not conducive to paint drying. starting working on the right front, which is locked solid. lots of pb, two screws are out of the drum, hub is partially disassembled....won't have time until friday evening to do anymore, but we'll try to back the brakes off then.

1/17, got second coat on valve cover. when taping off the sticker, i over taped just a tad, will have to touch that up later. not perfect, but i don't want it to be show quality...the rig won't be. it will just be a great example of a 50+ year old rig

lower flapper is still stuck closed.

After a week of daily doses of the PB blaster, lower flapper now works. Both the throttle pedal and hand throttle work. Poured a couple gallons of fresh gas into the tank, get gas to the bowl but not into the throat...

pighead was up early this morning and backed the cylinders off on the locked wheel. we're hoping that was the issue as all seems fine now.

while he worked more on the carb and engine, i went to town with brakeclean and a scrub brush and got the fronts cleaned up, then we antiseized the cylinders and put the drums back on.

they're not showroom, but we're just trying to get it roadworthy asap. the wheel ends will get completely torn down later this summer when the front end is rebuilt

for those that know pighead and twrecks, you may not have ever seen him operate a vacuum...here's proof he can. and, of course, while cleaning he found a cartridge...hey, it's not a cruiser if there's not ammo in there;) and yes, that clutch slave is off annie and evidence of what she looks like underneath
dualmatics are cleaned up and i'm painting one side now. it'll be on in the morning. they're well worn, but should do just fine

also got a look at the tcase, it is the early style. not looking forward to cleaning it, the tranny, and the oil pan. at least the gunk on the steering shaft, waterpump pulley, and front cover don't involve being underneath having all that crap drop on me:frown:

Yes it should light because there is no oilpressure when the engine is off.

Figures...cleaned the post on the sender & the wire clip that goes on it. Pulled the light socket out from the dash...bulb looks good and voltmeter says no volts to the socket with the key on...
