Sweet find, have fun getting it back on the road.

Mine came out 215 before yours, and was also titled a 63.

Does it have a heater?

Does it have a heater?

only way to tell is to look. back then, heaters were dealer installed. most had the denso units. my 65 fj45 never had one installed.

Zoinks...

That's a heck of a unit

Mine has the white box style (like I assume d is referring to in the other thread).
I'm jealous; somebody swapped out my clear bib lenses for amber :frown:

Very few had Nippon Denso heaters. Not sure if the few that made here sold here or installed in Japan. Toyota made available a US made by Eaton to their dealers. They also offered outside air kit to go with the Eaton heater but those are very rare to find today.

You can probably thank Toyota for your amber lenses. Toyota discontinued the clear lenses many years ago. Most clear lenses have been faded and crack long ago. The amber replacement is better than the aftermarket I've seen used.

great weekend in the mile high city! warm weather meant a lot done. lots of scraping of crud off the underside, both axles have been drained, along with transmission and transfer case. took a while to find the tranny fill plug under all the crud. rear axle fill plug was butchered, but for some reason, i had a replacement engine oil drain plug that fit the bill. was originally thinking the rear axle cover gasket was leaking and creating crud there, but now thinking it was the felt washer on the fill plug that was weeping oil out. more likely of a scenario.

either way, no more work until tomorrow when i come home with a fresh bucket of 75/90 and another case of brakeclean;)

also did a lot of cleaning on the battery tray...wire brush, followed by wire wheel and metalprep, finalized with sos paint...have to say, i'm falling in love with seymour of sycamore paints. how in the hell did i come from illinois and not know about this paint?!!!!!

also cleaned up the oil soaked rims and the splash guards, and sos'd the splash guards, dang they look good! in addition to brakeclean, today was spent with lots of chemicals. they've worked tho...no broken bolts. nothing even close to a broken bolt:bounce::bounce2:

was it factory for the spark plug wires to not be insulated at the plug connections?

Ige - great work on this truck and a very cool truck. Thanks for posting the pix and stories.

Oil light

Great progress! That rear axle fill plug (the old one) looks exactly like ours. Wondering what kind of mechanic is able to molest it in such a way. Must have had a bad day i guess.

If I have the right wiring diagram, the middle of the five fuses is the fuse for the combination meter, also the positive wire for the idiot lights. The oil pressure sender connects to negative with low oil pressure. So if the other lights and meters work, the problem is in the oil pressure sender or in the wiring. Wiring can be tested by holding the wire of the sender against the engine block. The light should go on if the key is on.

the last couple of evenings have been productive. yesterday, i drained the radiator and sorted a bunch of stuff in the tumbler. pighead pulled the radiator and shroud and i got the lower rad pipe off and seperated from the hoses, cleaned up and painted.

original lower hose????

today, in addition to getting new hose for the rad pipe, i sourced a new belt. this one is close to it's last bits of life. this was the good side. the cracks inside were all the way to the backside.
also pulled the bypass hose off, which had failed, but didn't know it had;) and got the top thermostat housing off so it could begin soaking. the gunk off, there was a bit of an issue with the gasket, so that will have to be fixed also.

second hub is painted, but short two gaskets, so this weekend, i hope to get the one that i do have gaskets for installed, the other will wait until i get more.

i also hope to get the radiator splash pan, shroud and frame cleaned up and painted, engine somewhat scraped clear of the gunk (and there's a lot of that:eek:), front main and cover gasket changed out, diffs and trans/xfer refilled with their first change (will drain and change again after we've driven it for a couple weeks to clear it of any rust bits from condensation and lack of oiling up top). rear seats need to come out and i need to see if they'll fit in the blast cabinet at work, oil pan needs to be dropped so we can take it into work to put in the parts washer. need to look at distributer connections to pump, pump screen, oil press regulator etc. new fuel and oil filters, cap and wires should be here tomorrow, bunch more stuff being ordered tomorrow also. wow...been busy.

on the plus, annie has been an absolute joy to work on. a lot has been disassembled, but i just finally broke the first bolt tonight. one of the 10 bib bolts snapped. all the rest have been awesome!

Good Work! I wish I had a warm dry place to work on my junk. I could get so much done this time of year...

What's the goal? Is there an event you're getting her ready for?
