is home.

the name started as a joke between me and pighead...i kept saying our baby would be home from the hospital soon and he said baby's come from hospitals because they are sick..annie's not sick just neglected. when i said she was coming from social services, he remarked the orphanage, hence little orphan annie.

only issues were she's currently stuck in 4wd (couldn't get to shift linkage with skid plate in the way and no vacuum to pull out), so we drug her down the road and pulled the rear shaft from the axle. tires held air most of the way home, but were so low that on backing up the driveway, the right rear peeled off the rim and the left was dang close.

before we left the p.o.s, i coated the engine with simple green and we stopped at the carwash down the street from home, but the only way the grime was coming off the engine was with the paint, so there are now a lot of bare metal spots on the valve cover and a lot of grimy spots:D

soon, the questions will begin, but for now, question numero uno

is the taper in the steering arms of a 1962 the same as all early 40s? (in other words, will the tie rods/ends from, say, a 72 fit?

I like the kid............as long as she doesn't start singing..........

Should be good on the tie rod tapers, if anything the tie rod diameter might be smaller (ala 25) so the later set would be an upgrade. Better wait to hear from a 40 guy if you're ordering parts though. ;)

Nice! Please let me know if you need anything, I know a guy...

Does it have an early three speed/tcase or a more normal three speed? I'm guessing later...just curious.

This poor little cruiser has been bounced around for a while. Nice to see her find a good home, AND, it will be really nice to see her run as is, in all her early 1962-1963 glory!

baseline it and run it:):steer:

I like it!! That old girl is so well perserved she deserves to be used and admired just as she is! Looking forward to lots of pics

I gess yo figre yo have a inside track on selling parts.

I going to guess it still has the original transmission and transfer case. If you do a little searching it appears to still have the column shift. Under the hood the engines original right down to generator. clutch and brakes still have the original masters. Original tail lights and front turn signals. Only thing missing seems to be the doors and top. This poor thing should go back to 100% stock. But because of the name I guessing if a top is ever made it's going to have to be red.

no ginger tops!!!!!!

yeah, pretty sure it's all original. phil, i'm guessing later to you is the column shift vs the floor shift 25 tranny....it is the newer transmission;)

haven't checked the engine serial number yet, as it was dark by the time we got her weaseled into her temporary spot next to twrecks. will try to check it tonight and match it to the service booklet tonight.

so far only things missing (besides top and doors) are one taillight and the title. :frown:

So this was Sheba's old rig from a few years back? Glad it's fallen into good hands.

The 61/62/part of 63 had a different three speed than mid 63 and later. It was factory with a column shift with a rare floor shift. The fJ25 was a four speed with cast iron transfer case which was only high range, it was only available with floor shifters. To check your T/T look at the cover for the transmission output shaft on the back of the transfer case. Early will have only four bolts and the cover is a straight tube. The later uses six bolts and the cover is tampered.

If the title is a problem I'll take if off your hands. I'll just add it to the list of vehicle that I need title for. AZ is pretty easy as long as it's never been titled in your name.

i'm guessing column trans/floor tcase? your wording is a bit confusing. we'll get a chance to look at it better hopefully this weekend. usually dang close to dark when we get home and the pressure washer wasn't touching the gunk buildup

wish colo was lenient....i'm expecting it to be a pita, here's to hoping it's not, because i've got two more abandoned rigs i'd like to title.

Your '62 should be a column shift for the trans and t-case high/low lever on the dash with the vaccum acuated 4wd drive knob beside the lever.

I believe what John was refering to is that there was an option for a floor shift 3speed trans and t/case like in later 40's. I have this option shown in my parts books and early FSMs but I don't think any came to the US that way. It was an option likely seen outside of the US. Hopefully I haven't confused you more now :hillbilly:

i think this is the earlier one...i recall seeing transmission linkage on the left and i recall my first cruiser (1971 fj40) coming off on the right side

You are correct. I was saying a optional floor shift was available. Which is nothing like the later three speed. SOR used to have one but at a $400 I passed. The column shifter was different in that instead of the linkage attaching to the top cover it attached to two shifters that came thru the side of the transmission.

time for some porn shots.

the running boards cause that's pigheads favorite part so far

the better of the tailgate chain covers
how does this bracket for the soft top work?

Pulled out the sparking plugs (Champions) and poured in some marvel Mystery Oil...
Stuck a hand-crank in to the crank pulley and gingerly turned it. With the first touch, the engine turned over silky-smooth. Not a bit of hesitation or protestation.

So, Annie has these old Husky front locking hubs...which we don't want/need/care for etc. 'Cause she's getting a set of DualMatics.
Naturally the Husky's have the broken center selector thingy. BUT, we did get a few pages of the parts numbers/exploded view/instruction manual for these Huskeys. Anybody need any of this "stuff"?
Hubs & literature free to first needy reply. 20 bucks if you just want the literature...
Yes, we know this ain't classified, will post there if nobody here jumps up and says "Oh yes Oh yes Oh YES!!! That's just what my rig needs".
