Ok, from that angle you get an entirely new respect for just how close it came to going over. Fortunately you could have driven out of it pretty easy if you needed to, but D@mn that was awesome. Best part was that you can't hear Liz screaming, just Erin and Missy.

Got my second oops on this trip. We went around this pretty long trail (took about an hour to get there) and the end was a pretty short black diamond. I was not even remotely entertaining the idea of driving all the way back, although some J**P guys that were following us all chickened out. The bottom section was actually pretty easy. The top there was a gnarly hill climb but with a convenient by-pass. Only problem with the by-pass was that it was very narrow and there was a large tree on the side. Well, found that tree with the quarter panel. Luckily the window was unscathed. Should be able to pop it out and throw a little touch up paint on there. Bad news is, I need 2 tail lights now. Also, looks like my factory skid plate is pretty bent. When going over bumps there is a pretty decent rattle. Need to get down there and check everything out.
Im already looking for ways i can get back up there... for more than one day this imd lol.

Well I have an annual pass now! I have to get some CV axles in the 4Runner first though. Already bought them. Just need to put them in. Hopefully that's gonna take care of my vibration issues. Been getting really bad lately.

Haven't updated in a while...
So my vibration/noise/harmonic did not go away when I put the CVs in. They were leaking pretty badly so would have needed replacement anyway. So I'll just cross them off the list as preventative. I am leaning more towards the front drive shaft or a front pinion bearing. I am really hoping it's not the pinion bearing because that basically means a whole front diff rebuild...
Anyway, I may pull the front D/S and send it out for u-joints and balance. Not sure yet. If it does end up being the front diff it becomes a question of, do you re-gear, add lockers, etc? ... The rabbit hole goes as deep as your wallet will allow...
The other issue I am having is the suspension. I added the spacer kit and we broke the lines loose on the XREAS. Obviously, you're not supposed to do that. So now the shocks are acting like they're blown. Large bumps or whoops and they act fine but on washboard type stuff or small bumps they are terrible and rattly. So, I just ordered the Ironman kit from ACC Toyota. I wanted the Foam Cell shocks (had them on my Tundra and they were awesome) but they were out of stock. So I went with the Nitro shocks. I have heard good things about them as well. So, I'm not really too upset about spending the money to get the Ironman stuff. I am a little upset that I should have just done that to start with. I guess the moral of the story is, if you're gonna wheel, just go ahead and but the good stuff up front. Spacers and wheeling just don't go together. Also I like the XREAS for on-road driving but I don't feel like it does anything for you off-road. Plus it's super expensive to replace anything and like the height control seems to be fairly problematic. Anyway, lesson learned!!!
The other thing I started messing with the other day was the lights from the running boards. I don't plan to ever put them back on so I started dismantling them to get the lights out. I plan to mount them up under the truck and use them like rock lights. They already plug right into the factory harness. So I am just going to tap in and put them on a toggle switch instead of coming on with the unlock/door open operation. I'm also probably going to get some really bright LEDs to put in there. They are not very bright right currently. Just has a "peanut" bulb (192 or 194).
I'll update again when the Ironman stuff comes in.
Edit: Some of the vibration like at highway speeds I have determined is the shocks. Gets kinda bouncy sometimes.

Check your front diff bracing and dampeners. I had a cracked (broken clean in half) diff mount and it caused a mystery vibration.

I've checked all that. This is definitely more of a harmonic/bearing type noise. Kind of a wah-wah-wah-wah and only at around 65-70mph. That's why it's so hard to diagnose and duplicate. It's also been doing it since I bought the truck almost 40k miles ago. It has started to get a bit louder so I'm hoping that will make it easier to find.
