Hey guys, I have a question here. I have a 95 land cruiser and I'm wondering if an engine of a 97 Lexus "land cruiser" will fit right in. Or will there have to be any major fixes since it came from a Lexus. Let me know all that would have to be changed!
It depends whether your current truck is OBD 1 or 2. 1995 was the transition year. Sensors and ECU are different. The LX450 was introduced in 1996 and is OBD2.
There are minor differences between the Lexus and Land Cruiser of the same year, but most parts are interchangeable.
Lexus is just a little better ;)

Theres a bit more to it than that. There are sensor differences in each year from what I have observed. I had to get a new oil pan for my 97 (long story) and even one years difference had a sensor on it that wasn't on the other one. If you can swap parts around a bit, you should be able to make it work just be really observant of what goes where.

It shouldn't be a big deal right? It won't cause major problems?

It's no guarantee, but every 95 I have worked on has been OBD II. If you verify that, then the 95-96-97 engines are interchangeable. I have seen no differences between those years including the LX 450s. This is only my personal observation as a mechanic who has worked exclusively on Land Cruisers ( mostly 80s) for the last 6 years. John

That emblem is with worth 40 horsepower and 3 MPG.

95-96-97 engines aren't 100% interchangeable. The sensors are different from year to year. Specifically a crankshaft position sensor was added to the cast oil pan at some point so the oil pans at least aren't completely interchangeable the 97 harness and ECU will need that sensor. I don't know if there are other minor differences.

Sensors shouldn't be much $$ right?

IAC is over $100 depending on which year you have. Others will vary. It could add up.

my LX450 has a toyota front grille due to collision. I once took it to the auto parts store and some gawker wanted to see under the hood because of my ridiculous hood scoop. He didn't care about the turbo, all he said was "oooh, it's got a LEXUS motor  "

Basically there are two 1FZ motors in the US, OBD1 and OBD2. With enough effort any can be made to work, easiest to use the type that came out.

The Lexus motors are put together by master mechanics wearing white gloves and inspected by a descendant of Ichiro Taira. That's a fact.

The Lexus badge is for the person who couldn't bring themselves to pay $50k for a Toyota. It made them feel better to have a Lexus and pay $65k for the same thing.
