I was wondering if anyone has any idea if this can be done if so has it? i was looking at different options about how to build a 60. Diesel would be ideal but exspensive, Chevy 350 would work i just like the idea of staying with Toyota. The great thing about the 1uzfe(4.0 V8) is that they are reliable, powerful, good gas mileage, and cheap to find used oh and did i mention fuel injection and on some even VVTI.

Am I Crazy?

When you say cheap what kind of $$ are you talking about, and do you get the complete wiring harness and PCM with that?

Also I expect you will have to run the transmission that came with the uz engine, and will the toyota FJ transfter case mate to this transmission?

I think it would be "cool" to run one of the new 5.7 yota engines but all said and done I expect the cost would be crazy...

i dont think any adapters are available for that engine to mate to any of your exsisting drivetrain so you couldnt use your stock transfer case or transmission with this unless you had adapters made.

if you are wanting power and fuel injection have you thought about doing a 5.3l Vortec or a 6.0l Vortec? the 5.3 with no cats or any emission stuff runs cleaner than a stock 2F or 3FE not to mention the power, parts availability from practically anywhere should anything happen, and the 5.3 is supposed to have the best fuel economy for its class / chassis. not to mention adapters are more than abundant for this swap making them much much cheaper and they look totally awesome and perform great when finished! I have personally driven a couple completed trucks with the 5.3 one had the chevy 4l60e automatic behind it the other an H55f toyota 5 speed.

Not to mention I know the perfect place to get it done.:grinpimp:

When i say cheap i mean i can pick up a salvage ls-400 for about $1500 dollars and that is the complete car, and the engines are fairly cheap just by themselves because they never break so there is a surplus of used engines. I know that an adapter would be needed i also saw a guy in a tacoma that mated an R-150 trans to this setup, as far as transfer cases i would probably try to use the setup found in the 100 series as well as the suspension and axle package of the 80 series. But the onlu cruiser i have seen that has this setup is and aussie fj55. And i don't really want to do a GM setup in my landcruiser the 327(5.3) is a good engine i just want to stay all Toyota.

there are several 60's with 1uzfe setup in austalia, i've seen also lots of 4runners with the setup. search in google to see what can you find. let me see if I can get you some information.

i would appreciate any help and or knowledge anyone could provide thank you.:)

I'm in the build of a 2UZ with cams and few other goodyes to swap in a mate 80 series .. we plan run the H150 tranny with HF1A factory t-case ..

I found a nice 2UZ for 2k with complete harness .. the only issue with this engine it's the MAF but also found it already.

Looking forward on your proyect .. maybe not the most cheap, but centaly a lots of fun ! and 226% Toyota.

cool that helps knowing that i am not the only one thinking about a swap like this. Do you have a thread documenting all your steps or a website that i can follow along with? And what other problems did you run into with this other than the MAF?

I've been thinking about this swap a bit myself. My 2000 toyota Epic22 with the 1uzfe burns half the fuel a GM powered mastercraft or Malibu does and puts out 300hp. The marine wiring harness and computer is super compact and self contained. furthermore it uses the same Hurth transmission as the GM powered boats, so possibly there is conversion parts in the marine world that could cross into the Landy world??

if you use a bellhousing and flywheel off a lx470, or similar cruiser, the a440 wil bolt straight up to a 1uzfe.

if you want a manual you will need to find a bellhousing to suit your trans, they came out over here in aus (2uzfe) with both the manual and the auto, a 1uzfe is the same motor only 4 litre instead of 4.7

so the equipment from and lx470 would bolt right up? that is very good to know and as far as burning less gas than a GM for 300hp that is exactly my train of thought. Plus it's Toyota and that translated into english means does'nt break.

The "ole" lexus swap is pretty common in NZ, to either hilux/surf (4runner) gearboxes or early prado autos. I don't think there is too much drama to get them all bolted up to a H55 either.

Used engines are imported to NZ and you can get a good runner for less than NZD1000. It costs about 1500 for the link computer, and then you have to install it.

Those who are more serious about power (competition trucks) are supercharging them...now, they are grunty!

you sure that thing wont bolt right up to a H55?

Wel we ordered the engine and still awaiting for some upgrades .. all my hope it's on March last week put my hands over.

Jace, did you think found more detailed info that which trannys use over there for the swap, along with the mathed disc, pressure plate and bell housing .. ?

Also..does the H151F and the H55F have the same bellhousing?

Nop .. are not the same ..

there is a adaptor in the EPC factory Toyota to math the 2UZ with the H151.

What about the 2UZ to the H55F?

The EPC you talk about??..I need a little help with that...
That adapter from the 2UZ to H151 work with Lynchmob's H151 he is selling?

I'd still rather the H151F or H55F...(H55F is my choice)...It's for my FJ-40...ready to toss the Chevy to a GM Guy..I'm want Toyota..

there is no chance to match the 2UZ with the H55F using Toyota parts .. H55F it's a older ( nice ) tranny ..

EPC

Electronic Parts Catalog .. software that Toyota use search around here and you will found plenty of info and a link to a free EPC on the web ..

You guys should fine this interesting :D We need a wiring diagram :D
