@c2dfj45 ...... "but I didn't want to take the chance that it wouldn't match the lines of the 79".

"Matching the lines" is indeed important. The "resurrected" guys installed this brushbar which in no way is correct thus the large gaps between the brushbar and the body. Thankfully Rob has the correct one sitting on the shelf and this brushbar will soon join a lot of other parts in the surplus pile. View attachment 2048905View attachment 2048906

Guess they had an 80 bar laying around. Must have adapters too...since your frame(wide nose 79 if I remember correctly) would have to go the other way....wider frame, narrower 80 bar mounts.

Installing miscellaneous parts (all of which are now being removed one by one) was their strong point. :)

Like a kid on Christmas except Christmas isn't in early August and I'm not a kid, we started messing around with the freshly delivered bumper.

We started by cutting the inner wall out so we could get the thing on the front end. I'm always the first one to cut up nice new parts but this one hurt a little.

What's not to like. :)

The more stuff we're putting on the truck, the more anxious I'm getting. Long ways to go though.

I think I bought my first ARB some time around 1995 or 96 for my beloved 40. First one in the US supposedly. I was as excited for that bar as I am for this one. Ha. How little things have changed in 24 years. Still have the bar and the truck!

Gotta love that ragtop. :)

I bought one of those coveted Pakistani soft tops. It lasted approximately 3 days(OK...maybe 3 months). I waited a YEAR for that thing to come in. Ha. Once it fell apart, I had the bright idea to have the top made out of Mercedes OEM soft top cloth. It's a gorgeous top and has been on the truck since '11 or '12 I think. Looks as good as the day we put it on.

This is a REALLY old pic of the old girl. Hard top configuration. Old Man Emu suspension.....ARB bull bar....Safari Snorkel. Probably the first snorkel too. My buddy James was a very early dealer for ARB way back in the day. He would order the stuff for his 40 but then I'd weasel my way into buying it. Roof rack was built from conduit. Lol.

Spent some time on the front bumper today....it's a little complex to get things where we want them but I think we are on the right path.

We had our local sheet metal guys break us some 3/16" U channel....we cut off a section to work with.

Made some templates of how this would fit our frame and the bumper. These are going to be inner supports that will be welded onto the bumper....then we'll bolt thru this and the bumper to the frame.

Broke out the plasma cutter and did some cutting. We usually never use the plasma for this kind of work but I'll be welding most of the surfaces of this piece so I'm OK with it not being the most precise thing we've ever made. Actually cleaned up pretty well.

And it fit right in.....almost like it was meant to be.

Loving this bumper....can't wait for the winch and lights to go on.

Lines up well with the flare's arch.

The Kut Snake flare seems to taper in towards the truck a little more than the OEM one does...which of course this bar was intended to be used with.

Totally different truck now with the ARB on. Looks official.

"legit" was heard a couple times today by customers and employees.

I was driving camper truck today and feeling inadequate with my stock plastic bumper on the front. As much as I'd like to put one on that truck, I'll keep it as is I think.

More work on the bumper brackets today....finalized and tacked in the right side. Really happy with how it's coming together. Started the left side today....hopefully will have it done tomorrow.

I've been in this industry a long time....I'm still amazed at how long things like this take to do.

Cleaned up and tacked in.

Left side getting started.....used a couple of 1/8 pilot holes and my Clecos to locate the plate....it will be on and off more than a few times. Makes it super easy to line it up the same way every time while we're drilling for mounting holes. Clecos are great tools to have in the box.

Dog is unimpressed with the work going on.

Had an AC bracket arrive for the 1HZ.....working on the compressor. I dislike buying motors without the accessories and try not to but sometimes one sneaks in. We'll do a 1FZ alternator I think on this truck. Need to figure out the stater next....

Consider making a bracket to fit the 150A tundra alternator (most common upgrade for 1FZ unit). I know you'd have at least one buyer for such a product.

It may work with the right Toyota one.

I found an aftermarket alt upgrade was a bolt in job on a 1PZ, I just had to get the right adjuster. Oddly enough that was from a 1HDTFE.

Cheers

We just swapped out a stock alternator on the 1FZ in the camper truck and I read about the Tundra unit. Might need to look into it on the 1HZ. That's up next because today our friendly Amazon driver dropped this dude off....
