More updates on the Pig--was a productive few couple of weeks working on the cruiser. We started putting the engine and brakes/steering back together (putting the new parts on feels like it goes MUCH faster than removing everything) and we cleaned and POR'd the frame, which was in great shape, just caked in desert dirt. We were going to try to tackle a carb rebuild or get a new one, but instead decided to just clean up the original since everything was in good shape and running great before we pulled it. Next on the list is to pull the rear wheels, inspect and most likely rebuild the drums and get the rest of the interior stripped.

Started stripping down the rest of the interior and taking apart the dash. The PO had put down some sound deadening material so no way to check the floorboards, but they seem solid and I checked under the car and looks to be in great shape with no holes and only minor surface rust.

For the interior, we already have a new cruisercorps headliner, SMS door and cargo panels and I was discussing options with my dad for carpet/vinyl kits. He mentioned JTO and we want to stay away due to negative past experiences, but has anyone had luck with any other options out there? I found this company in AUS and it might be worth the $360 shipped to try it out.

This is intriguing. I’d be interested to see how this works out?

Possibly another group buy?

I might be interested in that! This way you get to choose where the shifter holes go, exactly what I need.

Well it looks like you'll all be able to see how it works out because my dad had already ordered it the day I sent it to him. He's not on Mud much so when I brought up the idea of a group order yesterday, he said he had ordered it and we will just be the guinea pig for this kit and I will do a write up of my experience when we install it--I believe we did the loop pile in dark gray with the underfelt. We are also still tryting to figure out what to do for the cargo area, but I think our original vinyl mat is in great shape so we will most likely just clean that up and reuse that.

Well if you decide to do something different in the cargo area, I would be happy to help offset your carpet kit costs for your original vinyl. :D

If you are open to sharing, about how much was the shipping for the carpet kit?

Shipping was not horrible--I think about $160 for shipping to NC and the carpet kit came out to about $230

Spent the day yesterday sandblasting the front end and trying to figure out what to do with what looks to be a bend caused by a fender bender at one point. You can see it is off about an inch on the bottom crossmember on the front drivers side. I think we should be able to make a cut underneath in a V and pull it back out to make it even, but you can see from the pictures it is noticeably bent (the frame is fine, this looks to be the only area that was affected). I remember feeling like it was a little off years back when I was driving it and the headlight was pointing more to the right--we found out the PO tried to bend the headlight housing a little to fix it but just made it look like a pig with a lazy eye.

I found the front and rear vinyl and cargo mat in the attic and will most likely reuse the original cargo mat (sorry @WarDamnEagle), but not the front and rear vinyl if the carpet kit works out. The original front vinyl mat is in pretty rough shape but the rear could be cleaned up and reused. Also, according to tracking, the carpet kit should be here next week--we are still in the process of stripping down the interior so once we have everything out, I will lay it out and take some photos of the quality and how it looks/fits.
