Like some opinions / guess on what lift size springs you all think I need to purchase for the front. I don't want to replace the back springs so I need a match. Has 5 leafs...anyone...anyone?

Don't the rear leafs usally sag first? Are you trying to make it level? Do you believe that the springs are stock in the rear? You need side pictures with tires on a level surface for best guess like numtel said

that front end looks scary on that jack stand that is maxed out.

Ditto Move that jack stand to under the axle housing. It looks dangerous. Of course could just be the angle of the picture.

side view of vehicle...lift?

Here's the side view with the lid on. Got any guesses on lift height. I need replacement springs for the front only...

its kool, hes got life insurance and im the beneficiary

you wnat to replace the fronts but not the rears? how much lift do the rears have? what brand are the rears?

Tire size - 33's.

Tire size is 33"'s. That was the angle of the picture, the TLC is off the jacks & eveything is back on with the front end disc converstion kit. The only thing I lack is the leaf springs, shackles, & bushings in the front. After reading through some info, I have discovered I got some mean toe-in problems...I put the fronts on the back and realized the angle of wear is slanted from the inside towards the outside of the tread. In other words, I have more tread towards the outside than the inside.

I guess I'm really becoming a LC owner.

Thanks guys!

Why do you need front springs? Your rig looks like it is sitting pretty level, you bangin off your bump stops? IMHO it looks like a 2.5 inch lift spring, but that could be a little off depending on what you have for rear shackles.

I might not need new leafs, but when I look from front to back they look a little twisted (and old)....honestly, I don't know what constitutes a "need" to change leaf springs anyway...I was just going to do it so I eliminate all possibilities of another "death wobble"...

I got busted on the bezel a long time ago and that problem has been corrected. I gotta get a new pic.

They are brand spanking new, torqued, no slop, etc. Likewise with knuckle bearings, races, etc. The U bolts were a little loose on the drivers side and I got toe-in problems...so, my guess based on what I have read were the 2 main contributors to the "wobble" along with some seriously worn out shackles and bushings up front.

This problem has nothing to do with the leaf springs.

There are a few other things that can cause it, but leaf springs themselves cannot. It sounds like you just did a bunch of work to the front axle, right? Replaced the trunion bearings? And when you get it all put back in, you're going to set the toe-in correctly, right? And you'll check your caster angle once you've got the truck's weight on the springs, right?

Now, unless you have a bent housing (pretty tough to do without trying really hard), your problem is probably fixed.

I didn't think you needed to mess with camber or caster with these LC's...? And, even if it was off, there is no way to adjust it.? Yes?

..yes on everything else. Bearings: yes, knuckle bearings: yes, races: yes, seals: yes... grease all over the place: Yes. And, put back the same knuckle arm spacers on top and bottom...did it all man! Just didn't mess with the toe-in. The manual sez 47 1/4 inches, mine is somewhere around 49" on the tie rod ball joints center to center.

Camber cannot be adjusted. But it can be off - due to the reasons I mentioned: bad bearings (either trunion or wheel), or a bent housing.

Caster can be off. It's not 'adjustable' per se, but it can be off due to lift springs, shackle length, etc. This is probably the MOST common source of death wobble problems on Cruisers. Factory is about 1 degree positive (tilted up to the front). Most people report their best results (after lifting, bigger tires, etc) at 4-5 degrees positive. Adjustment is most easily achieved with small shims placed between the axle and springs.

Toe-in is probably the #2 most common cause of steering issues. I check toe-in by taking off both front wheels and bolting on a couple 2' pieces of angle-iron to the WMS (wheel mounting surface) using the lug nuts (to ensure everything is snug). Then, with the wheels points more-or-less straight forward, measure the distances between the angle iron both in front and behind the axle. I set mine around 1/4" toed-in (closer together in the front). You can also measure to the rim edge, but I'm just extra thorough when it comes to my steering.

Good luck,
Eric

Base on the pictures do you think I need shims?

Based on some of the pics in this thread, do you think this LC needs shims to adjust caster?
