Is that frame rust hanging down?

Something hanging from the fork of the forklift, nowhere near the frame as you're seeing the bottom of the tire.

A friend of mine just came home with his new 250 LC! I went over to check it out and got to take it for a drive up canyon. I was very impressed and I think it will be a great vehicle. I didn't get to go over 30 mph as we were on a windy rough road, but the engine felt great, solid low end torque, electric power steering, (i assume?) was really sweet and the dash layout was, in my opinion, really intuitive aside from the trailer brake controller being on the lower left dash. I personally like the esthetic of the new Toyota interiors, but it's certainly not too flashy. I'm 6'2 and I had plenty of room driving, but my 6'5 son was a little tighter in the back. Overall the seats were very comfortable. We took the 80 up to check it out so naturally I had to get a couple pics with the great grandfather...
I believe he got it from Toyota San Bernadino.
Sorry these pics are kinda crummy, might post more later.

100 & 200 Series in my case
Having spent a few days in it now, how does it compare to the 200?
Fit and finish, any drop in quality with the new platform, interior room?

We have a 460 and a 200 now and the 460 feels much more cramped. Hoping the 250/550 is a step closer to the 200 with front row space.

It's faaaar nicer than my 08 200 and I'd say on part quality wise but far superior technology wise versus my 21 HE200.

I was in an Overtrail today without a sunroof — it has lots of front seat headroom. Now I’m only 5’ 9”, but it was way more than my 200 (which has a sunroof).

Good walkthrough of the 250 engine bay and underside. It actually doesn’t look all that messy to work on. He mentions the SDM is not serviceable and the whole bar + motor assembly is replaced as a unit according to the repair manual. That seems like a costly pain. Guess I won’t have to worry about that bit if I wind up with the 1958. :meh:

Interesting that this tech says they’ve improved service access a few times. Sounds promising to me.

I’m curious what the new GX buyer was driving when the 200 was offered new.

In 2008, I was in high school and the MSRP started at ~$65,000. I drove a 1994 Acura Integra 4dr. In 2021 I'd finally made enough to afford a new 2008 200 series but the 2021 200 series started at $85,000. So I bought a 460.

I was only off by 1%

That's a great result. Something interesting to consider - if you adjust for track width, meaning comparing the articulation angle difference between front and rear axles - the 4Runner with KDSS score adjusted for width is 628 (remember it has a shorter wheelbase so that isn't really quite as much angle). Basically identical to the new LC250. If you put wheel spacers on to match the track width they would be the same on the RTI score. But if you put the exact same suspension on a 112.2" wheel base it and adjusted for width, it then ends up at 614. Close, but a bit short of the LC250.

It's a great result and I think the SDM will be really nice for improving ride quality on the trails by significantly softening up the front end. I'm curious to see how the GX550 does on the same ramp.

Front wheel spacer does not increase articulation as the up and downs stays the same. It does increase the rear with the solid axle.

That's a good point. I suppose the proper way to describe it is to extend the control arms to match width.

In practice - it would increase RTI score, but something less than the full amount you'd get from extending the control arms. In this case where more than half of the flex is from the rear suspension - the body will tilt and the front suspension travel being out of plane with the ground/ramp would still increase RTI score by traveling further up the ramp with the same travel.
