So many earlier series Easter eggs.
The AC vent is straight from 60 series.
Steering wheel look like late 40 series.
1958 edition cloth interior looks a lot like 60 series cloth interior.

So funny how none of the *influencers* pick up on this kind of stuff. The little engineering nuances that harken back to the heritage aspect of a new vehicle model introduction. Toyota has been doing this for eons with new model introductions across every vehicle line.

And yet, no one sees it. No one who is a “influencer” can describe or present how the Toyota Group actually operates.

Merely reinforces my abstention from everything that makes up modern marketing and advertising— as it exists in our current media age. It’s all created for monetizing moments/experiences/feelings/history and knowledge. Full and complete commodification.

I want to know who the CE is; what’s their historical background in the Toyota Group is; what component system did they make their bones on when they were in their 20s and 30s; No CE is less than 40-45. In the 1990’s, no CE was less than 50.

Takeo Kondo was 55 when he was placed in charge of Product Planning for the entire Land Cruiser development in 1990 for 70/80/100. Longest CE for the LC line ever.

Anyway, none of this matters;

Toyota is in the business to sell as many ****ing widgets as they can. That’s it.

Be it on 4-wheels, 2-wheels, a house, a boat, a forklift, a ship, a wheelchair, a robot, an entire city, a lunar module— they are a global conglomerate that exceeds entire national GDPs of 50% or more of the globe.

Lets not delude ourselves of the reality here.

As exciting as all of this postulating is….

As awful as these so called “influencers” and their end product may be, the ultimate responsibility and fault rests solely on the consumer because this vapid crap works. They and Toyota know their audience.

Toyota makes a good reliable vehicle which why I believe they sell. If Toyota starts importing the 70 series and it flops I would agree know what they are doing. I had a 2000 Tundra which was only offered in part time 4WD. Limited slip rear axle wasn't offered until 2002. Wasn't until a few years later and open transfer case that allow 4WD on payment was offered in the Tundra. That and trac were offered on the first Sequoia in 2001. Land Cruiser full time 4WD in 98. If Toyota knew what they were doing would have had open 4WD in the first Tundra. Instead they were just slow to figure that out. I know other manufacturers were ahead of Toyota on this.

When I rolled my 2000 Tundra on some black ice 2004 replaced with a new 4Runner. Only one available with side air bags in the Sport Edition had a sunroof. My wife wanted the fake scoop in the hood but neither of us wanted a sunroof but both wanted side airbags. So we have a 2004 with a sunroof have fix rattle and never gets used. Toyota is not a trend setter as much a doing it better than other manufacturers.

So the LC with join the 4Runner and GX in Toyota offerings. 4Runner has been a single hatch back into the early nineties at least. GX has always been a swing open door. New LC and GX are now going to be a single hatch like the 4Runner. If Toyota does as it has done in the past that will be the only option available in the US. Have to ask who made that decision? Personally for camping prefer the tailgate as a flat surface on the back. If Toyota does as it has done in the other markets will have other options for the door in the back. Guess that's what to expect from Toyota when they used engineers from California to help designed the FJ Cruiser. Most die hard cruiser lovers would have preferred the PX10 built on a 70 series frame.

Guess I'm to old to realize I need to count on an influencer to tell me what I want.

Images from the GDJ250 First Edition that will be visible at Bushtaxi.

12V battery in the engine bay in this non-hybrid version:

3rd row:

Very weirdly it got a "Land Cruiser Prado" badge while the Prado naming was never used in Europe previously:

so the 2.8 l diesel gets the 3rd row in europe eh.....no battery pack back there

Nothing particularly special here but a friend of mine from work spotted this one in Plano near HQ. He’s also seen the GX550 out at Eagles Canyon. (This is where Toyota NA has been hosting their media drive events of late.) Kind of looks like they may be running some larger tires on this one.

By its very nature a Land Cruiser needs no additional qualifier but we are in uncharted territory in North America so who knows. Maybe there will be an Influencer trim level with a special camera mount pointed at the driver and a Selfie Light Ring.

In other markets the name and truck is enough to stand on its own.

Like the GR Sport? :)

I think it's all but certain the 4Runner will have TrailHunter, TRD OR, and TRD Pro models. The LC appears to be a TRD OR equivalent with more basic shocks. I'd be a little surprised if we don't see some more offroad setup trims with better suspension after the first year or two. If you can buy a stock 4Runner with 33's and your choice of Fox or OME BP51 adjustable bypass shocks, it would be a bit odd not to have that offered in the LC as well. Might be a dealer parts counter option though. Most likely the Tacoma/4Runner suspension will be direct swap to the LC250.

The new tacoma swaybar are behind front axle. LC250 are in front like 300 series, tundra and Sequoia.

250 suspension kits are same as 23 Sequoia minus naybe lighter spring rate. Dobinsons already got a full kit for Sequioa.

Tundra front end swap might be popular just like on 200 series to get more travel up front.

I was thinking more of coilovers, shocks and springs. Didn't know they had different sway bar locations. I'm a little bit surprised that the Tacoma and 250 are not going to share the same sway bar disconnect.

Isn't that kinda the whole point of shared platform? The majority of the cost of development of a vehicle is the parts between the firewall and front builder. Sharing that engineering is where most of the savings is.

It would be great if the tundra / Sequoia parts fit. Cheap long travel!

Not quite sure about the reasoning. And how the 6th gen 4Runner going to follow Tacoma or LC250 design.

This is 2024 Tacoma front suspension. You can see the swaybar are behind front wheel. The swaybar disconnect are located below engine oil pan. Which might be better for approach angle perspective but definitely need skidplate to protect that.

This is 300 series front suspension without E-KDSS. Very similar to 200 series too.

This is Sequoia TRD Pro which looks very similar to 300 series.

These vehicles will have a very long life cycle.
I would not put it past them to offer e kdss on more models in the future.

I find it very strange they developed e kdss to only offer it on one trim level of the Gx and one trim level lf the LC300.
They surely have to offer them on more versions in the future.

Then again they made that hot vee diesel and put it on the 300/310 only...

Same goes for AHC, I would bet it will be offered on higher spec LC300s in future versions because its currently only offered on the lx 600 and not even standard like it used to be.
