So I've done some data logging.

First off, moving the IAT sensor to a post compressor position has no effect on fuel trims and LBS/min air readings.

Wired to the MAF for IAT the idling temp was 88 degrees.

While wired to the MAF sensor for IAT and full throttle off the line to 85mph, the max temp was 104 degrees.

While wired to the intake sensor for IAT and full throttle off the line to 85mph, the max temp was 170 degrees.

When reading through the logs it looked like the truck was faster off the lint to 80mph when wired to the intake sensor.

I went back the following day focused more on just the speed performance and both configurations were the same speed wise. However the idling temp reported by the MAF sensor was only 70 degrees. So the ambient temperature was significantly cooler. I'll do more testing once summer begins in earnest.

MOVING FORWARD: while I have all the parts and fully expect them to install and function properly that's not the next step. The next step is to finalize the injectors of the new MAF tubes. Working within the confines of the bore on the air cleaner has come to an end. With more airflow comes larger injectors and larger MAFs. This requires a hose adapter to be silicone glued in to the air filter and then the MAF tube placed between 2-90dgree elbows to flow air into the charger. This make makes the system more universal while reducing manufacturing costs. So finalizing this i new scaled system is next in line.

Once done I'll be offering a full upgrade kit for those with a TRD charger.

This is when the LANDTANK charger will be installed and the size of the crank pulley is determined.

Once that is done my attention with turn to the intercooler. The intercooler with be slightly different between the TRD and LANDTANKView attachment 3619819 chargers but leaving it last will hopefully maximize our buying power with Bell Intercoolers to save money.

Attached is a pic of the new MAF design.

Can it be used with both?

Can it be used with both?
Based on a conversation I had with Rick when he visited the museum in April, the function is the same but the part is different.

How much of what you'll be offering will also be compatible with the resurrected Magnuson? Or, put another way--which parts WON'T be compatible and would have to be fabbed up or sourced elsewhere?

So another small update:

The big challenge for this whole project is the reality that some parts need to be cast. I got a quote a few years ago for 8,000.00 for the pattern and core box for the compressor mount. Then it would be casting costs and machining costs to get the final product.

On a side note I'm about to release a comprehensive MAF kit for the stock engine. I called and looked to have it cast and it was more of the same as far as cost goes.

So off to Alibaba.

I found a foundry eager to work with me. Attached are pics of their first sample. Tolerances are great! Finish is superb and the cost is comparable to units I had machined 4 years ago. Best off all, no pattern or core box charge.

Next up is the intake adapter.

good looking part. Adding a SC or turbo would be on my list but I am limited by the OBD1 ECU for fuel delivery. Have you ever converted an OBD1 80 to OBD2 ? is it even possible or is my only option stand alone or piggy back ECU ?

there are already a few threads about this for turbos and superchargers...they usually run an O2 sensor manipulator and 5th injector with controller or an additional rising rate fuel pressure regulator.

Looks good from here.

Off topic, slightly.
Did you get anywhere with an alternative VAF for earlier models?
I think you were looking at this at some point?

the easiest solution is an enricher if they are still around. They have a MAP sensor so you can set the on time and then the slope of delivery. But I don't have any first hand experience with them.

So this isn't the upgrade kit for those already with the TRD s/c here? LANDTANK - SUPERCHARGER - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/landtank-supercharger.1237999/post-15461697

This is purely NA stock engine MAF?

At this point I'm ready to take pre-orders for the intake pipe for the TRD Supercharger

The intake adapter realistically needs to be cast for consistency and reliability. But that also comes at a cost in that a mold must be purchased.

I've been wresting with this for quite some time as front loading this project on my own is not financially feasible for me at this time and I have been asked about them from a few Mud Members.

How this will work:

I've created the sale item for 15 intake pipe kits at a cost of $385.00 ea.

At the time that 15 kits have been purchased the listing will show OUT OF STOCK.

Requests for refunds will be granted up to the point of the item being out of stock. Once the item is out of stock the order will be placed for the Intake adapter and the rest of the kit.

I had to commit to more that 15 units, so even if you see the that it's out of stock still place an order if you want one. And there will be some time after the initial order to add quantity.

Once the order is placed figurine 4 -6 weeks for delivery.

So to clarify, can this inlet pipe upgrade be used with the OEM MAF? Or should this be only used with your scaled injector kit?

I was about to ask a similar question, this TRD S/C discharge/intake manifold pipe works with the scaled injector kit, perhaps with the soon to be revised MAF, but not the up and coming inter-cooler? I assume, since the run to the cooler and intake manifold would require a different piping run.

The inlet pipe is post compressor so it’s compatible with any pre- compressor configuration.

The benefits are, smoother delivery to the intake, remotely placing the IAT sensor for accurate IAT temps and easier servicing like spark plug changes.

Getting that hard 90degree turn out of the airstream was my primary goal.

Oh, duh. I didn't engage my brain.

The air is already measured by the MAF.

Im in for one of these.

For curiosity, using this in conjunction with the upcoming revamped Scaled Injector kit you're releasing for the S/C would yield a bigger benefit, yes?
