Shane, any more details on what it takes to use your seat heaters with the OEM switches? Thanks!

I had the leather and seat heaters installed professionally and wired everything myself. Pretty straightforward.

So my girl has been working on the rear window tracks cleaning them and was throwing a temper tantrum and then had a brilliant idea. Using T-shirt painters rags she found that she could slide them under the glass and with my help slide then forward and then hold taught against the glass and then move the glass the rag would scrub the track. Then I sprayed clear silicone spray into the channels and repeated top and bottom and front and rear glass section we now have free moving glass panels. It took an hour to do one side, but well worth having them clean and functioning.

Does your shifter boot look like ass?
It's vinyl, so mild soap and water to clean and then grab your favorite lotion from your night stand (non scented is best) and lather it up. Let sit in the sun light or warm place for a few hours and then buff with cloth.

My girl says its the most beautiful lawn ornament ever!
I've done some crazy stuff in my years, this takes the cake.
I'm just doing the basic head service as he says its even across the board. So with that I'm planning on the worse, yet preparing to do it all right. So it's going to take me weeks longer to build up the funds, but if she runs then I can put her in the road clean.
Plus I'm super excited to design some great expedition parts for this platform. The rear platform idea I've had I think will be huge and give weekend campers a solution that's not preeminent.

Hey Shane, great thread and very inspiring! I've been reading through it and noticed your comments on "resurfacing" the center console using a torch. I am planning on doing it this weekend, but wondered if that same technique would work on the door threshold plates? Seems like they are the same plastic and mine are quite scuffed up.
Also, the plastic "hinge" on my center console is about to tear thru. I wonder why Mr. T didn't put in an actual mechanical hinge vs. a scored piece of plastic? Anyway, any thoughts on replacing/repairing that piece. I've considered just finding a small gauge piano style hinge to replace it with?
Thoughts?

Afternoon. The torch I use is the large version and I use Coleman gas as they are wide and keep it standing up.
You can use heat on ABS only and they are marked on the back side. The glove bod lock it black painted brown and will burn. The dash top is actually foam backed vinyl and your melt it or catch fire. So that's a no-no.
Your kick plates are ABS.
Imagine a room temp stick of butter and you drag your finger across the top from one end to the other and you'll notice that the edges of where your finger was is now higher than the butters original edge. This you have to cut off! Lay a razor blade flat and gently cut the scratch edges off. This will leave a valley with sharp edge on both sides. This is what will blend away with heat. Deeper scratches will not disappear, but when the edges are softened it will be much subtle and appear gone.
Use common sense and use heat safely from a distance using feather pattern from side to side and not in one spot.
The hinge you can cut and install a rubber hinge and some screws to rebuild a hinge.

In the interest of a tight budget, we decided against a NAV radio for many reason. Craig "Sandiegocruiser" had the same tablet my girl has. So she bought the cradle and RAM mounting system and installed "Back Country Navigation" per his recommendation and we're really happy so far. Very stable and she can view it from the drivers seat and I can rotate it easily to get online.
