A couple of thoughts on this for January 2012. Warning: Amazon sells the Phillips HIR9012 (low beam) and HIR9011 (High Beam) for the 80 for under 85$/set shipped,
but these are the "standard kinda" 9011/9012 Halogen bulb relacements (not really HIR, but hit the lumen number to be so ascribed) that is referenced by Daniel Stern lighting earlier in this thread. To get the true HIR bulbs for the 80, Susquehanna MotorSports - High Performance Vehicle Lighting and Competition Accessories stocks the *true* Philips HIR coated bulb in both the 9012 (9006 low beam) and the 9011 (9005 High beam) bulb applications.
To the wiring harness 'upgrade' need/benefit... It depends on your voltage drop at the lights. If you measure voltage at the battery, and it's the same as at the back of the lights, the harness won't do anything. If the measured light voltage is more than .5v lower, a harness will make a noticeable difference. To the Slee headlight harness... The pic on his website shows an inline fuse for the battery feed. This is a major no-no, best replaced with a ATC type weather protected fuse. For more on the reasons why, see this thread in Winch and Recovery:

I spend a lot of time doing upgrades to HID lights for guys that 'insist'. Before doing that, I suggest they read these two tech articles from light guru Daniel Stern.

If that doesn't deter them, I take them for a ride in my LC with the HIR conversion, usually that does it.
FYI, HIR was patented by GE in 2000 as an alternative to HID. They have since sold off the Automotive HIR patent (kept the 110v bulb HIR patent) to Toshiba, which was the OE HIR supplier for John Deere. Toshiba since sold the HIR rights to Philips, the current supplier (Toshiba can still be found in John Deere parts supply as NOS). To imitations: There are no licensees to HIR, Philips is it. Philips has since done more development on the HIR, reducing the size of the bulb casing, and increased the output and longevity over GE/Toshiba offerings. Toshiba has stopped producing the HIR bulb, so once NOS Toshiba bulb stock is depleted, Philips will be the only HIR replacement
