What's the purpose of replacing the barn door striker?

When you add weight (JW Off-road Tire Carrier with 35” tire), the door will sag, so this striker acts like a guide. Allows the door to close less abruptly if you will.

Some good news and bad news after install. Good news is everything looks great and drives very nice. Bad news is the RCV inner boots ripped and let out a s*** ton of CV grease .

Talked to Marlin Crawler and while RCVs issues is not theirs they took care of me anyway. I cleaned up what I could and it went back to Marlin and they replaced the boots and found the root cause for the tear. They identified that the retaining clip came out, which punctured the boots. The folks at Marlin Crawler are the best. I can’t be more happier with how I was treated as a customer and they’re just cool folks. Can’t wait to wheel with them.

Got a message from East Coast Gear Supply that my Dana 60 was ready, being packed and will be shipping soon.

Holy rock crawling Batman!!! That little RCLT HD by Marlin Crawler is $6.899.00 trinket!
Although, personally love Marlin products. I had one of there transfer case regears in my my old 100 series LC and it really helped reduce my Lo4.

With the help of my buddy Dylan, installed Rad Flo LT Rear Shocks that’s I got used from Sandy Cats, Apache Off-road Bump Stop extension blocks and YotaMafia extended rear brake lines.

When I purchased the Rear LT Shocks from Sandy Cats, he also gave me cooling fins for my front Coilover Reservoirs. Such a nice guy. Thanks Oleg! I just needed to go to ACE to pick up bigger clamps.

Brought the GX to VEX Off-road and they started with removing the old 8.2 axle and the front differential. Swapped over the front differential parts from the old diff to the new diff.

New parts:

-East Coast Gear Supply built Toyota 8” Clamshell with ARB Air Locker and Yukon 4.88 gears.

-East Coast Gear Supply built Dana 60 with ARB Air Locker and Yukon 4.88 gears. Axle has updraded 40 spline axle shafts, Heavy Duty Toyota Brackets, conversion U-Joint and ARB Red Differential Cover.

With the rear LT shocks, we identified that the driveshaft kept hitting the RCI Fuel Skid and bolt. Team took the time to cut off material and made another hold for mounting the bracket.

Rear axle was about ready to go in, but we identified a defect where the lower shock mount sleeve that goes into the shock was too big. Time to measure and machine material off…

Got the sleeve machined and the shocks mounted. What we also did was replace the e-brake hardware, because in order to remove the old ones, we would have needed to move the axle shaft to clear the rear hub.

+5.5” to match the front. The RCLT HD kit is the +2.75”.

Seeing you've gone pretty extreme with your rig, have you considered portal axles? If I had the extra coin, this is the one big mod I'd really want to do.

Seeing you've gone pretty extreme with your rig, have you considered portal axles? If I had the extra coin, this is the one big mod I'd really want to do.

I've considered portals prior to pulling the trigger on the RCLT kit. I like the idea, but I'm just not keen on adding more maintenance. You're supposed to change the portal axle fluid every oil change. Not a huge deal, but when I was considering it, it wasn't something I wanted to do. Also, if something broke, getting the replacement part may be harder depending on which brand or portals you get. 74Weld is USA made, which should be easier to obtain, but the Werewolf Portals are made in Ukraine, so there's that. I think the only thing I'd consider other than RCLT is SAS.
