Ohhhhh man, that is awful. So sorry to hear this. Stupid trucks really carve a spot out in our hearts.

Don't want to sound like a vulture, but I'm getting ready to remove the body from my 80 to put a stretched 40 body on. The body's not perfect(rockers are dented a little bit and there's a dent in one of the rear quarter panels, but in terms of straightness I'd give it an 8.5/10. If you want to discuss getting it to swap onto your chassis I'd be open to it.

Thank you Arya

I just got on scene of the crime at sunset, the tree is a lot bigger than I thought in the pictures, there is another much larger trunk above the branch that is pictured above,

I am worried about the rear axle and frame. I will find out more at dawn,

If the damage is contained to just the body I would certainly love to find a donor body, at this point things like having a roof and doors that open and close are more important than straight rockers.

MD is a trek, logistics will be interesting.

Got the tree cut off, managed to drop a branch on the windshield and smash it :whoops:

RH A pillar and L/H D pillar damaged down to the window level, R/h B, C and D pillar damaged all the way to the floor, floor warped on R/h side,

this body cannot be made into anything but a tube buggy, not convertible/bronco-able.

The only good news rear axle and frame look OK,

If you decide you'd like to pursue it, I'd be willing to meet you part way.

I'm not sure what, if any, complications might arise from putting a 94 body on a 96 chassis, but I'm sure it could be figured out.

Does the interior look salvageable? Mine is in less than ideal shape due to a leaky roof.

Anyway, definitely not pushing it on you, but if you want to talk, shoot me a PM.

Dude, that sucks. But yes, you only have one Mom. I empathize. Sorry.

I am down to basic liability insurance too.

Get another 80 and start over. I won't ask about parts. :)

And yes, some of us are old enough to know that blazer in the pic is not a bronco. We used to have this bright orange K5 with an ugly eagle on the side and...

Ah come on, God - can't you confine your "Acts of..." (like this) to Hummers? Please, Sir? Clearly falls under "doing the right thing".

Good luck Raven, that's a terrible blow - but Mom is what really counts. We're all pulling for both of you.

Man my heart goes out to you i Know the feeling I drove my GREEN LJ77 all over Malaysia (for 4 Years) until my emplooye took it out for a 60 minute trip and put it in its roof. Poor thing had done 400,000km when it was totalled :(

See if you can rebuild it get a body and put it back on the road.

Took me 7 months mines back on the road with a new body this monday after I pay the rego tax.

and your Mum is ok thats the most important thing and no one got hurt.

looks like both of our LX450 will be combined to make one working unit, all is not lost ppl, it will live on, somewhere.... somehow

dont expect to see it in florida, both of them, again , the end

any ideas on how to cheaply lift an 80 series body?
about how much does it weigh? I am guessing 1000 pounds?
I am thinking along the lines of building a wooden gantry
another idea was asking around about borrowing a septic tank truck

I can't remember who, but there was a thread with a gent that did a body swap hoisting up a tree and back down.

Not the same fellow, but PM creepersleeper, he was working on a body swap right before he sold his 80.

I don't really have suitable tree, its virgin dense forest, all the suitable branches start at about 50'
that and I am not really into load testing tree's right now, we have had a long drought.

Rent an articulating boom lift? Not cheap however.

I would think building a wooden gantry would be cheaper no?

just talked to the owner of the donor vehicle, it sounds like I may just swap over my drive train and interior. well I have to get it here firs but I am excited, light at the end of the tunnel. :)
