For Sale I have been lucky enough to own this truck and it's for sale.

It goes without saying, this is a very special vehicle. I actually tried to purchase it many years ago, I was willing to leverage my underwear but it was too steep. So I acquired it and upon acquisition drove it 1,000 miles home, what a trip it was. At this point in my life I must choose wisely what I keep. What I really want is an HZJ75 Pickup, man would I love to have one! Any questions feel free to ask, I've loved this truck since first seeing it. I have owned FJ40, 45, 80, 470. Another tan 64 FJ45 went for sale recently, I owned that one too. I'm very excited to have found this forum and look forward to learning much and contributing anything I can offer. L

Beautiful!!...probably too rich for me but I had to ask..how much are you selling it for?

I imagine I would part with this truck for $70,000. Thank you for your interest. Hell make an offer. I would consider extremely well sorted expedition rig on trade, especially troopies of the newer LHD type. Also love the well sorted FJ80 type.

I will sell you my 80 for $70,000 then, :grinpimp:

Almost forgot the description. 65FJ45 Corvette LT1 700R 4who disc Lokar Ididit disassembled and lined meticulously underside nothing untouched Simply put, immaculate. If any one can stomach the price I have all the photos of the build on CD for review with verification of funds. Gorgeous vehicle in every way. Drives well, thousand mile straight trip without incident. Ask away my friends.

Nice rig...bring it down a few notches, and I'd be interested.

None the less, GLWS!

Nice truck !

Imho the color could be have been nicer.

Glws !

that description says nothing, that rig is so far away from a 1965. not 1 thing I see is 1965. what is the vin #?
Myself and most everyone else here is very suspicious, you have 4 posts and drop this on the forum with no history.
you state it is an automatic but it sure looks like a manual shifter, how does that work?

It sure is a pretty rig to look at, GLWTS, but getting that kind of money out of the people here will be kinda hard.

It does appear to be a manual, it's actually a Lokar auto locking shifter. This is in fact the cruiser depicted for sale as you pointed out. I purchased this because I fell in love with it years ago and had the ability at this point in my life. I also posted a picture of the tan one I owned so I would have to agree it's far from an original 65. I can tell you driving with the air on and automatic is nice. You'll notice that the doors are newer and the long bed has been cut to accommodate the short frame. It's now for everyone but it is for one person as it was for me. I'm new to this forum and certainly accept the suspicion, for the first time in my life I have put my tools down and earned the right to enjoy the fruits of my labor. I have lots of time so if anyone wants to reach me by phone I'm always eager to meet new people and talk about cruisers albeit my know leg is limited to my experience as I am not a mechanic. I encourage thorough getting in all aspects of life, this sceptisism will pass and when it does I look forward to having new friends here in the cruiser community.

So many typos, sorry. I'll write more about the truck this evening when I'm at a computer. Again, please forgive the typos.

OK, here goes. DesertEmu, I recognize your distaste for this 45 and thank you for your warm words. This truck was built with a deep affection for the FJ45 shape and certainly more purpose built with todays driving demands and modern day comforts. If you look closely you will notice that the front fender vents are in fact unmodified stock, I hope that makes you feel warm inside? I can point a few other things out if you can't recognize them. The FJ45, while fascinating in it's design, had limitations and therefore I believe this is an excellent example of a tribute truck that can be enjoyed daily. Unless you work from home or travel very short distances driving an original FJ45 isn't quite the celebration of an FJ45 that this truck is, in fact spending the money and time to honor the FJ45 in a way that it can be used daily in the year 2016 is a testament to true appreciation. Perhaps the independently wealthy that have the time to drive an original or those with superior spinal bushings can drive one in its original configuration but as for me, I want to get where I'm going in efficient comfort with brakes that stop with the control of any modern vehicle.

3_puppies, please refer to the previous response placed for DesertEmu.

FJ4043, Every collector/builder has the unique position of pigment choice most appealing to themselves. Thank you for your input, perhaps I'll remember your disappointment should I ever paint one myself?

To every forum member,

This is a community of brethren assembled for the celebration of all things Landcuiser/Toyota. With this being said, can I ask the pecking order please? I'm surprised by the distrust and staunch opinions that somehow come across as less than positive. Is there a list somewhere of who the elitist are? Is it protocol to have their blessing prior to making mods on an archaic piece of machinery? I have a 1940 Harley Davidson Speedway which is considered, by many, as an irreplaceable piece of history, Never would I look down on any person on two wheels because that is the common thread. HD or Schwinn, the objective is to feel the freedom only experienced on two wheels. I want to encourage anyone in S florida to shoot an email and maybe we can meet up for lunch. I have tools and a garage, if you ever need help I'm here to pass wrenches or scrape my knuckles along side you. We live in a world where it seems everything divides us, let it not be Toyotas. There's not a person on this forum I wouldn't help, a man by the name of Dennis Frasier helped me repair a birfield 24 yrs ago and his kindness changed my life. Not age, education or financial health could place us in the same room, only our love of landcruisers could do this. (We still chat to this day) I had many choices when joining a forum, I chose this one because of the landcruisers. If we don't welcome and encourage new members we are destined for extinction.

Thank you for reading this, L.

Leroy - first of all...welcome to the Mud forum! Its not always the warmest of welcomes, but you'll realize that this group is an invaluable resource. In my opinion I think the 45 you have looks fantastic. The friction that you're receiving is mostly driven by the majority of the members here do not necessarily find the price palatable for the vague descriptions and pictures that you offer.

While I agree that the 45 looks fantastic, I believe the price point high as you're nearing the range for entry into a concourse restoration of an all original machine. I think if you want to get asking you'll need to detail out all of the specs. For instance: The bed has definitely been chopped. So a good place to start would be: who did the work? was the work done be a reputable shop? While I don't doubt that there has been a ton of time and investment put into the machine this price is very high on the spectrum. I've seen nut and bolt restorations with modern day upgrades sell for 35-45k here in the forum.

I hope this helps and I promise we're all not here to flame you for your listing. Take some time to look through some of the FJ40 & FJ80 for sale threads and you'll find that the rigs selling at the high end of the spectrum have an endless list of every detail that has been performed.

- Justin
