The link should have also provided access to download a key generator. You must input your version and software number. Then I had to change the activation time limit a few times until it gave a key that worked.
Hello, I have a problem with the techstream program, I have tried many different versions, both with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. I manage to install everything perfectly and connect my car with the OBD that I bought, (Mini VCI J2534) and I have tried different driver versions. The problem is that I access the customization section, I see the different options (security, air conditioning...) and when I select any of them, the customization window appears completely blank.
Any possible solution?

In the past I just accessed the remote machine, opened TechStream, then there was a notepad doc on the desktop that had a key. That doesn't seem to work anymore.
Where is this key generator?
Sorry, I reread my post and realized it was unclear. The 64-bit version from one of the links provided (there are many if you Google search it, and a couple buried in this thread over the years) came with a zip drive. In the zip drive there is a version 9.XX That's the one I am using. It also came with a Toyota Key Generator. My understanding is that if you have a network connection and use a key, now that key is for your version, software number, and activation time limit. The only one you can change without affecting the operation of your version is the time limit. This is how it generates new keys. Because of the amount of use over the years, some keys are already "used" even though it's all pirated. There are a few reasons why the key in the notepad no longer works. Version, Software, Time has all been used by someone else.
In my previous post, I automatically assumed ieltxukubas was using a 64-bit version. In my case, the 64-bit version ended up not working. Something with my specific m-vci having 32-bit drivers probably. I could have spent time troubleshooting but it was 31 degrees in my truck and was getting late. I ended up just using the original link posted early on in this thread to download the zip with virtualbox and Techstream pre-installed within it. I did use the key generator with the 64-bit download, however, changed the time limits a few times, and got one that worked. That's probably what another well-known forum moderator (not this forum) does for everyone as well. Or they have a licensed Toyota key generator because they work for Toyota. I don't care. All of this is pirating anyway... For around $20 bucks you can subscribe to their forum and they'll give you a key.

I got the software running on my PoP Linux box (Linux_Downloads – Oracle VirtualBox - https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads).

Techstream is working fine on my Win 10 Asus laptop for the Europe region. ( Installed in Jan 2024)
I tried installing it on another Win 10 PC and another Win 10 laptop, for the Europe region, but it will not accept the given key.
Just keeps asking for it and then generates a Warning that Techstream is unregistered.
I have tried it a dozen different ways, but no go.
Any ideas or workarounds ?

Ok, I think I have a solution.
The problem seems to be date related.
So I disconnected my PC from the internet.
Then I switched off "Set time Automatically" under Settings/Date & Time.
Then manually set the date to 01 Jan 2024.
Then ran the setup OVA file and installed Techstream as per normal procedure.
Then Launched Techstream and under the "Setup/Techstream Configuration" Tab set the area, etc to: Europe, English, 111, 111, 111, United Kingdom, Authorized Repairer, then click "OK"
Then close/exit Techstream. (Exit/Close Techstream only, not the Virtual Machine)
Then launch Techstream again.
Then click "Connect to Vehicle"
Enter the given Key
And now it works !!
Set PC time to automatically update time again, reconnect to the internet and everything should be back to normal and work.

I have been fussing with this issue for days now as well. Used links from OP, VM seems to work fine, TIS opens, but "cannot connect to VIM" and both host and VM are having issues with recognizing the cable. Snips of error info from VM and win 10 device manager are included.
I'm not 100% confident with the driver situation, or that I have allowed the USB passthru to the VM correctly. Please help a guy out.
Note this is a diagking mini vci v 1.4.1 from amazon. I did not use the installation DVD due to the abundance of apparent malware on it when I scanned it, that's how I ended up on this forum.
I have a v2.0.4 cable kit as recommended way earlier in the forum being delivered tomorrow, but I'm not convinced the issue is the cable itself.
I was lucky to order the last one on amazon.
If it matters, I am trying to diag an intermittent ABS fault on an 06' Matrix XR AWD, and TIS seemed way better than one of those garden variety handhelds for this car, which has had intermittent issues with it's ABS for years.
Not sure if this helps, but I was having the same issue with "Cannot connect to VIM" and here is what I did to fix it.
First thing, I confirmed what cable model I purchased. From Amazon, I confirmed it was the "Mini VCI J2534"
Second, I opened up my virtual box, and loaded up Techstream. At the top, select "Setup" > "VIM Select" > XXXX (whatever model cable you have)
Third, make sure the cable is plugged into the USB on your computer, at the bottom right of your computer, you should be able to click on "USB Settings", and you should be able to see your cable there. You HAVE to make sure you select it and a checkmark appears next to it like below:
One other thing I saw in an Amazon feedback comment was the following... not sure if it had any impact though.

Has anyone gotten the Japan Region working?
I have all regions activated, NA, Europe, and Other(I used Australia )but no matter what activation code I use on Japan, It will not activate.
Anyone run into this?
I have a 2002 Prado, and I'd like the true Japan available modules if they differ from EU and Other

I installed the program, everything works fine except the customize settings menu. It keeps on loading seemingly forever, or sometimes just crashes with a c++ runtime error. Tried solving that by installing c++ drivers but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks

What operating system? What hardware (processor)? What version of TS? Are you using an emulator?
I'm using the windows xp on a virtual machine that was included in this thread. Processor is an I5-8365u. Techstream version currently is 12.20.024, but I tried it with 18.00.008 too, but that's doing the same thing. Could read live data and everything with both of them.

I was also having issues with Windows 11 — to the point that I pulled out an old Lenovo laptop that had W11 and formatted the hard drive before I installed Windows 7 Home Basic. Then, I used an install disc (that came with the cable I bought from Amazon) to install TS directly onto the computer (using the built in CD/DVD Drive on the laptop) without using a VM. I wanted something that I could use for other vehicles, so I decided to dedicat this IBM laptop to being a Toyota TechStream Hardware System / Diagnostic Device.
Like you said in your earlier posts, I [too] was able to get some function out of the myriad of VM setups I created, but it was EXTREMELY buggy / unpredictable, which is not what i wanted for trying to diagnose a system that is currently bugged (e.g. 100 Series Land Cruiser).
I do not doubt that there are ways around paying for the subscription and ways to run TS through an emulator/ VM, but i’m currently trying to solve what appears to be an ABS System issue (not displaying/ throwing error codes). I couldn’t afford to be doing guesswork on the diagnostic-system side AND the problem-system side.
I’m sorry the news isn’t more exciting
