Okay I managed to install and get the version 10 software installed in my old laptop. It now connects to the car but I have no option to do health checks or to do customization. I also can't see the AHC pressures in the live data it appears there but there are no readings available. Can anyone advise?

I have an 2001 Lexus LX470. I just installed techstream and have it working. I have few questions about it. The version I have is 13, is there any reason that I would want a new version? I am also curious as to what modules I should see from the ECU? Is there a list? I only have about 5 and am curious if there is anything missing. Thanks.

Step 1: Purchase an OBD-II / Mini-VCI interface.
- I have sold out of my cables and supply chains are back in order, so no reason to purchase more. Anything like this will work: Mini-VCI cable on eBay
Step 2: Download Hypervisor
Step 3: Install Software You Just Downloaded
- Windows / Intel Mac [Download Virtualbox]
- Apple M1/2 Mac [Download UTM]
- Windows: Double-Click downloaded file
- MacOS:
- Intel Mac: Double-Click downloaded file, run installer
- M1/M2 Mac: Double-Click downloaded file, drag to Applications folder
Step 4: Download TechStream Image:
- Windows / Intel Mac: LINK
- M1/M2 Mac: LINK
Step 5: Double-Click downloaded file.

Same here. Simple instructions but more details are needed to complete the set up, specifically, OS interface with the download. Its not click and go.

Same issue here. It says aborted. After that, I tried double clicking the techstream inside the virtual box and then you can see XP loading and then it says that something is going on and it can't start normally. If you select safe mode, it will run something on the screen and it will display to log in as an admin or something else. Once you choose either options, it will show the techstream screen. Then I connect the car to the lap top and I get the error message : unable to connect VIM. I check that the J2534 is selected and it is.

My issue using a free old Dell Insprion 1525 Win. 10 was that the system lacked Virtualization (VT-x). Pop up "Not in a hypervisor partition". Cant enable it in Bios or download/update because Dell didn't include it in this cheepo laptop. Might try this (link below) if youre having issues with TS opening briefly then aborting.
What's the trick to get the Windows XP VM to boot up in something besides Safe mode? If I try anything else, it aborts the operation...

Might want to edit this post title to techstream in 2 hours. All the links are dead to the software and hardware
Question: I see Amazon dongles paired with Techstream 16, 17, or 18. Is there any reason not to spend $10 more and get the latest Techstream? My newest vehicle is an '06 GX 470, so I doubt I need it, but I might be asked to plug it into someone else's newer Toyota.

Was able to get this working today after a few trouble shooting items. Sorry to hear for all those that are having issues. I was nervous I was going to also be in that bucket, but thankfully made it work.
Huge thanks to getco and all those that have helped trouble shoot this. And sending good vibes to those out there still struggling with this that you too can figure it out.
Was able to check my AHC pressures today, did some torsion bar turns, and what a nice improvement!!!
- The Rig: 2001 LX470
- The Computer: 2012 Macbook Pro Retina (Intel)
- The Cable: I ordered the v18 version on amazon (same link as the post above) "VCI J2534 Cable Fit for Toyota TIS Techstream" Given the firmware is the same (V1.4.8) between the three options listed there, it probably doesn't matter which one you get?
- I followed @getco instructions in the first post and everything installed well
- I got the "Unable to connect to VIM" message with the first attempt out of the box. I found this post (How-To: TechStream In 5 Minutes - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/how-to-techstream-in-5-minutes.1034923/post-14687527) which had the fix for me:
- "1. You need to make sure your cable can be seen by Windows. Make sure the USB device is mounted in VirtualBox settings: VirtualBox -> Devices -> USB -> Select your cable (mine had M-VCI or similar in the name - via USB-C adapter). Windows will beep you once it's found it."
- I got it to all load up, but AHC wasn't there! Doh! Then I read you have to make sure you select LX470 when you start Techstream. Once I did that, I got it all to work!

I got a $23 cable off Ebay, found an older version of techstream, v12, couldn’t get it working with windows laptop so I installed virtual box on my MacBook Air and voila, it worked!
Check to make sure you entered your correct model and not the default model. Also v13 should be fine for 2001. My 06 shows up just fine in v12
I was able to connect to my car (2024 Corolla) in TechStream just fine with a Tactrix OpenPort dongle just fine, but all of the individual vehicle modules were marked with an asterisk meaning "unable to communicate with this module." I'm guessing this is because the newest model year in this old version of TechStream is 2018.

I've got the same issue on UTM currently. The "MVCI Firmware Update Tool" app can see the cable just fine, but Techstream always says "unable to connect to VIM". Any luck for you yet?
