VirtualBox is technology that essentially allows you to have a running computer *inside* your computer, no matter if it's mac or windows (or linux).

Combine VirtualBox, the technology, with the Software in Step 4, and you do get 'TechStream + Cable Driver'.

Wow, I did not realize you created a VirtualBox for us in Step 4!

Thank you!

That is wicked cool of you!

Gratitude! I got in and took a look at my AHC system.

I cannot express how nice it is to have TechStream back. I had it running on an old laptop, and then my wife's Chihuahua peed on that computer and killed it.

So I am doing something incorrectly, I tried to create a 32-bit XP Virtual Box, but when I try to start it, it says "FATAL - no bootable medium found. System halted.".

Que? Does this have something to do with the Host Drive? The only option it would point to is a D drive that is a CD/DVD drive.

You shouldn't have to create your own machine first. The download just needs to be imported and started. On a mac this is as simple as just double clicking on the file. Not sure about windows. I opted to dedicate 2 CPUs and 2GB RAM over the 1 cpu/512Mb that was set by default.

I set this up today and was up and running with the amazon cable in minutes, thanks @getco!

I just removed the network adapter from the VM before I created it, based on the comments above about updates. Didn't have any problems whatsoever.

Affirmative. Once I had the Step 4 download complete, that is when I realized that @getco had gone through the trouble of creating a VB for us!

I was working ahead on Step 3 while Step 4 was downloading...

Did you ever figure this out? i am getting the exact same thing.

So I got all the pieces for this together and gave it a shot today now that the v2 file is present (thanks @getco). Went with the Amazon cable, and I'm running VirtualBox on my MacBookPro Late 2010. All seems to be going well, everything connected up, truck running (is this correct?), and then saw a whole lot of nothing:

And then nothing to customize either:

Have not tried on my wife's IS350 yet, but it seems like the hardware/software is all working. It sees a UZJ100, I input the VIN when it asked for it, no errors at any point, etc. Any input from the crowd?

just figured it out. run the health test and start clicking around from there.
Really?! I tried again last week with same results. Forgive my ignorance, but is this "health check" within TechStream or ???

I got this to work with my Mac. I had to fiddle around with restart, unplug, try again, etc but I got it to work with some luck. Thanks a lot for the setup and instructions.

getco! thanks brother for posting this... was able to customize some settings however, after connecting to the vehicle, there was no option for the 1vd twin turbo. the software only had 3UE as the engine option... any remedy to this????

What I would love to be able to do is run the LEDs at the bottom of the light housing on my 2015 as my DRLs (instead of the high beams).

I assume Techstream wouldn’t allow that, is that correct?

I'm going to release a v3 that should remedy this. I think it's because there are multiple drivers installed and the correct one may not be selected by default.

I think this is resolved by changing your location by going to 'Setup > TechStream Config' and selecting a location other than 'North America'.

Thanks @getco! Has anyone been able to update the firmware on their cable using the utility? My cable came with firmware 1.4 and there seem to be some functions that do not work, curious if upgrading to the 2.x firmware will make the difference.

Has anyone had the error:
“Raw-mode is unavailable courtesy of Hyper-V.
(VERR_SUPDRV_NO_RAW_MODE_HYPER_V_ROOT).”

Did you fix it? How?

Thanks

Followed the instructions and worked flawlessly. I can select any individual ECU and check values, codes, etc. When I try to run a global health check the eco all check and the server line below the ecu progression, never finishes. Didn't know if the virtual box was connected to the internet by default or something I would have to setup. Saw a network adapter in there, but couldn't figure it out.

Thanks again.

I followed your instructions and everything seem to work okay, although the virtual machine never picks up the USB devices. It says "No USB devices attached". I tried adding the the USB HX M-VCI [0600] device in settings of the VM but it still does not work. Any suggestions?

I am not real computer savvy. I have a Mac airlock I tried downloading it. id says at the end of the dropbox install, not installed, contact support.
However, it looks to be in my apps. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks

B
