It’s showing as a $27.20 price with free shipping for me?Damn that one is a good 30 bucks more expensive (75) but still probably worth it in the long run. Thanks!

Sounds good.FWIW, ordered this last week and it works really well. No laptop needed and it seems to give all the functionality of techstream.

Sounds good.
Can it read all systems on your UZJ100, including AHC and body ECUs?
Reading on Amazon, I couldn't find anything about M-OBD compatibility, which is the t0yota version of OBD. That is the only protocol supported outside of the US, afaik, for the t0yota vehicles from the last millennium. If this works on the US UZJ100, it doesn't mean that it would work on HDJ100 in EU or OZ, but that would be wonderful indeed.
FWIW, ordered this last week and it works really well. No laptop needed and it seems to give all the functionality of techstream.

After my old single use (tech stream) windows laptop took a sh*t, I tried the Mac variant vm outlined in OP’s first post. I encountered the following error. Any help would be appreciated. TIAView attachment 3612894

great...I didn't think of this and I was DEFINITELY online. I will try it next time. Thank you!!!You may need to make sure you're not connected to the internet when starting up TS after install
Post #1,148 helped fix this issue for me.When I try to launch the virtual machine it keeps aborting, anyone have any ideas?
Thanks for this! I am running windows 11. I have followed these steps and can confirm they were all completed after restarting my cpu. For some reason, I am unable to install the virtualbox portion of the software due to a nonspecific fatal error during installation. I even tried the newest version of VM from oracle with the same result. I bought a new low end dell laptop for this whole process, but cannot get the thing to work. Any insight would be appreciated as I'm not as tech savvy as I used to be. TIA.I may be too late for the specific user I'm replying to, but I'm on Windows 10, not MacOS like some of the recent users who've been successful in getting the #1 post techstream running.
I delved into figuring out why the Windows XP VirtualBox image, it would crash upon loading. Safe Mode would run, but prohibit access to the USB devices, especially the mVCI cable.
Turns out, that Windows 10 often is enabling Virtualization-based Security by default, so you want to disable that for the virtual machine to run and have access to your USB devices when starting normally (and not in safe mode):
- Check if virtualization is enabled.
- Windows Key > Type 'system information' > enter.
- Scroll down in 'System Summary' to the record "Virtualization-based Security | Running"
- Disable VBS/HVCI
- Windows Key > Type 'core isolation' > enter
- Toggle 'Memory Integrity' to 'off'. (Keep it off if it is already off) then reboot (don't need to if it's already off)
Win + R > 'regedit' > enter- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceGuard
- Set EnableVirtualizationBasedSecurity to 0 (zero). (if it does not exist, then do not worry about editing this registry key, and proceed to the next direction).
Windows Key > Type 'turn windows features on or off' > enter.- Scroll down to 'Virtual Machine Platform' and uncheck the box.
- Reboot your machine.
- Redo step 1.1 & 1.2 to confirm that the entry says 'Not Running'.
It took until 2.6 for me - but others it may be one of the prior steps to disable VBS. With VBS disabled, I'm now successfully able to start the Techstream virtual machine without issue.
Hey everyone. Thank you @getco for sharing this guide with us. I was able to get Techstream running on an M2 air. I'm using a generic VCI J2534 cable purchased from Amazon (click on hyperlink).
I was able to get around the "Unable to connect to vim" error message by selecting the XHorse MVCI driver from the TIS main menu.
1. Within UTM, make sure you're passing your USB device to the VM. You'll see a checkmark next to the device.
2. Navigate to where Techstream is installed - C:\Program Files\Toyota Diagnostics\Teachstream\bin
3. Open "MainMenu" application. You can disregard the registration window, click on "Cancel".
bump to hopefully get some tech guru help. I'm still not able to launch the virtualbox even after following the OP instructions and post 1,148. TIA.Thanks for this! I am running windows 11.
