In my 2005 LX470, the seat memory buttons only work when the transmission is in Park. Is there a setting in TechStream to make the seat memory buttons work even if the transmission is in Drive? If yes, under which option? thanks for any pointers.

So I’m have a Australian delivery hdj100 (2001 model) and I that tried the above code change and have also tried Techstream in every variant and it still asking for a new program key number, except in the North America program, it doesn’t ask for a program key code and connects to my cruiser but it only has 2UZ-FE to choose from under Landcruiser, I need hdj-fte model. Has anyone recently had any other way to get around the whole key code problem?

Hi, Just found the answer (I hope) see this post.

Thanks to the OP for their time and effort!

Older platforms seem to have alot live data available, however newer platforms seem to error out on live data. Is their a work around?

New platforms have a ton of customization options, however the wording and the small description sometimes is not clear. Anyone have a better descriptor of some of these options?

Getting Techstream up and running can be a bit of a pain. Hopefully this helps someone get started quickly.

Step 1: Purchase an OBD-II / Mini-VCI interface.
- I have sold out of my cables and supply chains are back in order, so no reason to purchase more. Anything like this will work: Mini-VCI cable on eBay

Step 2: Download Hypervisor
Step 3: Install Software You Just Downloaded
  • Windows: Double-Click downloaded file
  • MacOS:
    • Intel Mac: Double-Click downloaded file, run installer
    • M1/M2 Mac: Double-Click downloaded file, drag to Applications folder

Step 4: Download TechStream Image:
- Windows / Intel Mac: LINK
- M1/M2 Mac: LINK

Step 5: Double-Click downloaded file.

Connect & Enjoy.

Edit (04/08/18): I removed the more expensive cable, as I received a new Mini-VCI cable that works 100% at 1/4 the cost.
Edit (02/28/21): Updated links to new versions of Virtualbox & new link to cheap Mini-VCI cable
Edit (10/30/22): M1 Compatible workflow / updated virtualbox links
My mini-vci is not recognized. I do not see it in device manager either. How should I solve this?

The downloading site for the VM, (mega.nz) is proving to be a problem. First it let me download %66 then I had to wait for 5 hours. Now it is stuck at %99

Still no joy after waiting 5 hours, now it wants me to wait 6 hours. Stuck at 900mb.

Had tor refresh the site after a day an I finally managed to download the VM.

Then it said that the sofware would not run after 26 jul 2023, so I changed the date of the VM from the control panel -> date and time.

Now trying to get the adapter to work.

Anyone have ideas on how to resolve the VIM connection Wizard freezing up when trying to connect to the car? I've tried like three different VM installs on several different computers (Mac and Win) and I keep getting shut "Not Responding" when I put in the MAKE/MODEL variables.

You will need to reset the immobilizer to add master keys. This is done with techstream. Your ecu will give you a 96 digit seed code that is entered along with the vin into a calculator that will give you a passcode. After a 16 minute countdown your immobilizer will be in registration mode and will allow you to add 2 master and one valet key.
Hi Mauser, sorry to bring this back up. I have a 2003 Australian delivered HDJ100. I have techstream up and running, but I see the key reset is only available for the NA market. I wonder if I can use techstream for NA on my car in Australia to do a key reset, as I only have 1 working key, and it is a valet.
Thanks

Question, what does it mean when I try to open xp and techstream says aborted?
Having the same issue.

It only will boot in safe mode on XP.
any time I start windows normally, it crashes and says aborted.

I followed the python instructions a page back to make that vbox install error go away.

Post 1148 for the win. That got it to boot without hanging!

I'm still failing to get techstream to load on my new low end dedicated laptop. So much so I recently bought a Xtool D8W scan tool. It wasn't cheap, but it'll do a lot of stuff I need without getting frustrated with being an apparent troglodyte.

Hey all.
First time poster here found the site looking for a way to get TS. Thanks to op who have made this very easy for a lot of people and possible for some of us, just a little more work. Hope the last part didn't sound rude because that wasn't my intention, it's just that I'm from Europe and as some others I first couldn't get it to work when I selected Europe because TS wanted a registration key and it didn't work. After a couple of days with trial and errors I have gotten it to work and will try my best to explain how I did it (I'm from Norway so English isn't my first language)

What I first did was delete everything from VirtualBox but not sure if that's necessary.
In VirtualBox I went in to my computer C:\program files\toyota diagnostics\techstream\env

In there there's a file called IT3Usercustom (it's configuration settings),
1. dobbel Click that one.
2. Scroll to the bottom and you should see user1 profile setting in the window.
If you see approximately 18 lines down from there there's a line called:
[Registration - NA] just change NA with EU
When that's done, if you see 4 lines down you'll see a line called:
[TBR - NA] now you probably have guessed it, just change NA with EU
When that's done just select save with Ctrl+s or press File in the top and select save. Close window and try to launch techstream with the icon in the desktop window or whatever it's called.

Hope I made it understandable but I'm not the best at explaining these things, especially not in English. If it's not clear just ask here and I'll try my best to help but have a lot of things going on now and might take a day or two
First post here as well, just wanted to thank you as your fix worked perfectly! I could not for the life of me figure out how to pull codes off of my '98 Toyota Celsior, and your little guide no longer complains about an expired key. Thank you!!!

Hi, follow Haralds Haarfagre instructions, Just make sure you turn off Network connection in the VM 1st so it doesn't try to communicate. The when you go to edit the file as per his instructions, you will need to change the letters to suit what you selected in the Techstream Configuration. This is actually located further down the "IT3UserCustom" config file. The last line of the text and the 4th line up will have the code you need to enter in Haralds instructions. Once these 4x match it should work. ie. The Green circles need to match the country codes in the red circles (The red ones are set from the menu "TechStream Configuration (S822-04)). Once you change these to all match, save and re-open Techstream and see how you go.

I live is Australia, so once i change Techstream Configuration to "Other", it throws up the expired error, once i go to the IT3UserCustom file and change the 2x green circled ones to match the red circled ones, it works. When you open it back up, it should say something in the bottom Left Hand corner like Subscription Expiration 2596d 23h 50m.

See attached Haaralds and screen shot.

FWIW, ordered this last week and it works really well. No laptop needed and it seems to give all the functionality of techstream.

Harald, you're a legend! Thank you so much! You post needs to be pinned to the top of the thread.
