My grand father bought this new at Stancil's Toyota in Placerville. Soon to be restored with the help of MUD.

Awesome!! We are ready to help! Start a new thread with lots of old and new pics.

Agreed Lash, the white hard top sides make it look like a 43. Nice rig tho. I like the tires.

is your cruiser the one on Man-a-Fre's website that advertises the Mojave springs?
I bought that package and put it on a project I am working on. How do you like the suspension?

Yeah, that's mine. I love the springs. Much softer than the Safari and OME
i road in. I cut and turned the knuckles so I could run a 12" travel shock.
It's really quite flexy now. The stock pinion angle up front sucks so if you want a lot of droop you need to do a cut and turn. I also used the long travel slip yoke that Man-a-fre and others sell. It'a a Joint Fuji part that uses the FJ80 front yokes and u-joints. It has 45 degrees of articulation
instead of the stock ~24ish degrees

So in addition to the shackle reversal, The Mojaves require a cut & turn and a driveshaft mod?

I need to have the number seven in my number count. So maybe when it gets to 346 I'll put mine in...lol.

#342 and #343

They don't require a cut and turn but if you don't you'll have to limit droop with the shocks like every other 4" lift does. You can only droop the front axle until the front ujoints bind. The mohaves will droop 14" if you let them. Way past the point you snap a ujoint or pinion. The one major flaw in the setup toyota has for the fj40 front end is the pinion angle. Anything 4" lift or over should be thoroughly
cycled and check in shop before wheeling. People will run the springs without cut and turn. They will get the good ride but there is a lot more potential
The Fj60 pinion angle is far more forgiving . About 6~8 degree advantage. Mohaves on the 60 can cycle 12" without pinion issues. I guess Toyota learned through the years that lift kits were going to be an everyday reality.

So in addition to the shackle reversal, The Mojaves require a cut & turn and a driveshaft mod?

Ed, I think the count is off - happened at about 328 or so . . .

#345

I guess I'll be number 345!

My first Cruiser build, 1978 with a bunch of mods, waiting for $$$ to do body work...

Used as a weekeder, now that I drive 600+ miles a week...
