You're 2 statements are a little hypocritical. A bug and windshield or a goose and gander come to mind. It's OK for one, but not the other.
Hypocritical....If you consider Australia is a member of the 'commonwealth', its the UK govt thats fleecing us across the board for all they can get away with in the UK. l'm not arguing for me or thee..l'm saying 'we' see the reality of the changing world we're currently living through with the end of western hegemony & the birth of a multipolar world. The tariffs (taxes) are part of the tactics used to slow the inevitable down without fully considering/realising the consequences on oneself. For example... Some imported Chinese (or wherever) goods have components made in the US its kind of self defeating if the tariffs not only penalise the US buyer (raising prices) but potentially the US supply chain should the overseas manufacturer decide to source those components elsewhere, or worse begins to invest in manufacturing their own.... Who wins...?

That's my grief with Emperor Chump, it doesn't matter what you call it Tax or Tariff. We the little people will be paying it not the corporations, they will just add it to the price and pass it on to us. The rich people don't pay taxes - they pay tax attorneys hundreds of thousands of bucks so they don't millions/billions in taxes - a great return on investment and they get to write it off too.
10% is enough for GOD, why is man's gubernment taking a third or more?

How about NO TARRIFS at all ? That is fair. This way all countries on earth will be on an equal playing field. I was told from some old timers the reason FJ45 was only imported 4/5 years was because of this tax. The big 3 were wanting less competition so 25% was the game changer for the FJ45.

No disrespect, but can we keep it to the discussion of aftermarket part quality and drop the rest.

I suppose quality of parts somehow links to cost. And cost is related to these things. I personally love quality items no matter what the cost. This thread is about reproduction parts being "crap". At this time parts come from everywhere as advertised and it is good to follow other members on the quality of the country/vendor as an educational reference. As I see members posting low quality parts, it sure is good to know who/where they are. Well , since I own an FJ45 the rarity is a blessing.

To add a quality service, on older M/C this place does a long term resolution. Beautiful part upon completion.

Back on topic...

I just installed '78 OEM ambulance door seals that I purchased in 2015. Not only did they survive sitting around for 10 years, the fit is just exquisite. I don't care who thinks they have 'better' non-OEM seals, it just can't be so. The OEM ambulance door seals are even 'rougher' (in surface texture) where the glue is applied, and have the tinest bends and creases and ding-dongs (the tiny rubber bits at the ends of the left door seal) to fit and seal like no other. I have struggled on/off with non-OEM front and back door seals since 1990, and (as long as they are sold) never buy anything but OEM. Lesson learned.

I also just bought an OEM headliner (shipped directly from Japan - far cheaper to buy) and it vastly outperformed all the 'heavier' headliners that have been falling off my FJ40 roof for years - I have purchased 2 different aftermarket brands and the cost of these is now very close to this Japan-shipped OEM one. The OEM headliner is light as a feather, which is ideal when gravity is pulling on it 24x7. The tailoring of the OEM headliner is akin to that of an Italian suit. I had a shop install it, in this case, because there is no room for error.

Just my .02 worth in 35 years of FJ40 fiddling....

Coming from another angle, if I had a rotten post 74 Fj and wern't comfortable with doing my own repairs I would look very hard at the Troa panels. I know how many hundreds of hours I put into sorting my 72, but I was trying to save as much of the original as I could. Being able to buy a new roof or any of the other panels for a later FJ45 would have been tempting. This company seems to have targeted popular common rustbuckets.
I can't buy oem panels - can still get most of the bling, tho.

I concur with Steven: got installed the OEM headliner in 2007. After 18 years of faithful service replaced it with another OEM (bought from a Japanese ebay vendor)...

🤣

You'd be surprised how much we the corporations eat on that front. It's just another front to go to war against other corporations with.

My reproduction parts are quite nice actually

Even some of the toyota oem parts are not as good I think. Check this out. early rear license plate lamp housing I replaced the whole lamp last year and Now I am reusing the old housing because..... the replacement was starting to dissolve. Kurt at cruiser outfitters said the satin nickel paint is not as good and probably could have used more coats.

Be careful. Some members on here want nothing to do with that. Parts only.
Dude it was getting pretty political. I just wanted to steer us back to cruiser related discussion. It ends up being a lot more amicable place that way. I am fine discussing politics, it’s just not the purpose of this forum.
