How bad is the rust on this 200?

Im looking to purchase this 200 series coming out of Maryland. It has 129k miles. I havent seen the car yet but this is a picture of the underbody that was sent to me. Im not very familiar with these vehicles and was wondering if this is too much rust? Any input would be appreciated.

If you asked for underbody photos and that's all they sent you, I would walk away based on that fact alone. That is a singularly useless photo and does not show the condition of the underside at all.

Assuming all that reddish pigment is rust and not mud/sand, that's a fair bit, and other sections of the frame are likely 10x worse. I'd look for a cleaner vehicle.

That's a "NO" for me, Regis, final answer.

Definitely looks like a surf fisherman Or someone who has had their vehicle trapped in a salty puddle on a couple of occasions. That is not just road salt for 10 years. What year is the vehicle?

I’m tolerant of rust, but this one is bad. It shows serious lack of care for many years. Additional photos would likely show corroded suspension parts and deep underbody rust. It always pains me to see great vehicles uncared for. Pass on this one.

From someone in the rust belt area - Too much surface rust on the frame and most likely a lot worse on every component there... walk away!

The best go west. keep your search to the western states. Any rust is to much. and that rig is toast !!!

I wonder how much of that is mud, since it's all over everything- not sure if those are KDSS lines/connectors...

Looking more toward the center of the underside- looks cleaner.

If that's indeed rust, even if I lived in Chicago I'd skip it. But I'd want more pics to see if someone went through some mud prior to this picture...

THAT'S NOT MUD

That is comparable to my 42year old 40 series!

I live in Chicago and after almost 6 years my rig has nowhere near that amount of rust.

hard pass IMO
