I have been trying to track down a vibration in my drivetrain and think I finally found the culprit. It looks like there was a balancing weight welded onto my driveshaft that has come off. I pulled the shaft today to get it rebalanced.

The newly balanced driveshaft makes her drive like a dream! Now just to finish up the electronic loose ends and all is well.

The engine sounds nearly identical to the 2H until the turbo kicks in which almost sounds like a very far off siren as it spools up. I will try and get a moving recording...

Hard to say, but my memory is its about the same except the turbo whine...

True, you have to use the gasser cross member and tranny mount.

Welded in a set of HJ61 motor mounts, dropped the motor inot a late model fj60 1982 and she all bolted up nicely.

As requested here are a couple videos. You will likely need headphones to hear the turbo whine.

This one is of the engine starting you can hear the turbo right after I rev the engine up a bit:

Try this one of these days - turn your snorkle intake backward, roll down passenger window and get the combination of exhaust and turbo whine with ever so slightly offset timing.

So I am still very much in need on this Vaccuum diphragm valve... Anyone havea line on one? Parted out blown up 12ht anywhere in the world?

Here are a couple pics, also note that 2H one looks almost identical but wont work as it has a different bracket and a different stroke length (if you click the pics you will get a blow up):

I have not found a part number yet.

Sheldon finally found one of the vaccuum valves for me!

Gauges and heat mitigation installed...

Vaccuum switch has been in and working for a while. Nice to have the auto idle up.

I also finally got around to installing my gauge pods for a month long trip in eastern NV and the eastern Sierras. I put in 24v gauges for trans oil temp, turbo boost, and a pyrometer. Install pic:

I also did some other mods to allow the truck to handle heat better...

A SPAL 24v 12inch pusher fan (which of course required moving the trans cooler and modding the central upright and grill):

Hood louvers to let heat out:

Made a diverter for the windshield fluid to spray water on the radiator as a last resort for super steep sections:

I have been using the set up for several days out here in the desert and its been doing great. Two questions though:

1. Now that I have the pyrometer I am concerned about my EGTs. Its pretty hard to keep out of the red which starts at 1050F or so. What is a safe range for a 12HT?

2: I have yet to figure out where to install the thermal sensors for the trans oil and engine coolant (to turn the fan on automatically). Anyone have suggestions for a 12ht?

Is your pyrometer pre- or post-turbo? I think pre-turbo pyro EGTs should not go over 1200 but I could be wrong on that.
