What do you need a glow screen for in California!?
Save your money, You can throw 12v at the 24v screen, it will take a little longer to heat up that's all.
S

I thought that may be the case, but glad to hear someone has done it. Only time I ever need the glow is when I am up in Tahoe or the Eastern Sierras and the truck sits below freezing for a few days while do back country split boarding.

Any other suggestions of parts I may need for this swap from Japan?

So I drove the truck today with its new (rust free white) body. The drive was all of about 500ft from my mechanics shop to mine. I have begun sorting all the electrical and am having a few hang ups:
- Cant find the 88 FJ62 wiring diagram to help me hook things up. I even subscribed to the Toyota TIS but it is a total disaster of a site. Doesnt work with Mac and after I got on a PC I found it doesnt go back past 90. lame. Anyone have a link to the wiring diagrams?
- The two main electrical issues I am trying to sort are: Where the engine temp gauge hooks up, and so far not getting oil pressure readings even though that is hooked up.
- I am getting really wierd readings on the vaccuum circuit that should allow the truck to turn on and shut off. On the vaccuum switch connector I get 12v on one wire even when the truck is off, and the other wire reads 2.4v? very weird.
- I know there are issues with the tach on this swap, right now its not reading at all. Will research this.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Well today I got my truck doing most the things it should and is basically drivable ...
- I unplugged the EFI computer. It kept causing weird effects in the electrical system. Anyone else who has done a 62 to diesel conversion I would love any feedback on whether there is any use for the computer??
- I wired the main vacuum solenoid on the manifold to turn on and off from the 62 ignition coil circuit which now turns the motor on and off properly.
- hooked up the oil sender and it just maxes out. Does it need to be a 12v sender?
- RPMs still not working but will look into other thread on this.
- Still need to find correct temp gauge hook up.
- Would like to find correct hook up for side fan.

Body Swap Photos

So I got the new FJ62 body together this weekend including the modified front right fender for the snorkel (thanks Mudrak). I also re-painted my old hood to match so I could keep my hood vents.

I also did a some stuff to convert to all my 24v stuff to 12v:
  • Installed 12v Spal radiator fan to replace my old 24v one SPAL USA
  • Swapped to 12v 100w bulbs in my Hella 4000 driving lights
  • Started building up the new electrical system which will have a 2 battery management system.

I just got a Dakota Digital diesel multifunction gauge in. I really like their stuff. One little gauge gives me temp., EGT, and boost. The other great thing about these is that you can set warning limits on everything and have those warnings trigger a light or buzzer. But even without the external warning the number flashes against it's background to warn you.

I like this thing so much I am looking at switching a lot of stuff over. They have a 4" gauge that can replace the main fuel, temp, volt & oil gauge it looks like. Since this combo gauge is notoriously faulty on old cruisers it seems like a good swap. I have ordered one and will be laser cutting an interface for it. If it looks like a good kit I may offer it to others if there is interest.
