Hi There, took my HJ61 12HT to get a new turbo oil feed and return fitted and just got her back and I think the turbo is ticking? Sure it wasn’t doing this before, any ideas please. Also does anyone know what RPM the turbo light should come on as I swear it’s later than before. Don’t think I am going mad but don’t want to damage it if it’s not getting oil or something else.

Are you sure its the turbo.. a very loud clicking sound is often an exhaust leak. Any evidence of soot deposits around the manifold, dump pipe etc?

I called the shop and they also said it might be an exhaust leak. Definitely coming from round the turbo somewhere. I am going to let it get hot tomorrow if it’s not gone I going to run her back to them to check over I think

An exhaust leak at the head/manifold can sound like a tick beverage you can get a leak with each combustion cycle for one cylinder.

An exhasut leak after a turbo is less likely to be a tick

So the shop said it isn’t exhaust and they need another guy to look at it on Monday, they also think the actuator isn’t moving or moving enough.

Was exhaust after all 🤦‍♂️

Well that photo seems to make an exhaust leak rather more likely as the cause.

Wondering if high temp copper rtv on OEM exhaust gaskets should be used to prevent future leaks?
I have ordered manifold gaskets (not sure they are OEM) also ordered the manifold seal ring set which is OEM. I will take your advice and ask the shop if they will use copper rtv 👍

I have never used sealant on exhaust gaskets.. get a straight edge on your manifold before re-installing - it may need facing off.
