Hmmm okay.
I replaced all the washers for the injectors and it seemed to help a bit. I also swapped out the primer pump for the bosch one but I can't seem to get it to build pressure. It seems to depress with the same force no matter how long I pump it for.

Is it bottoming out when you press it?

Yeah I can press it all the way down no problem.

I'm at a loss how just removing the injectors is causing such a bad air leak. After replacing the nozzles and all the washers and injector seats it'll cause a no start unless I bleed the lines and it happens every morning without fail. I can't figure out where its coming from.

  • You've read that guide I posted earlier?
  • Once started, can you drive long distances without issue?
  • The injector return line washers have been replaced (the ones with the little holes)?

Yes! I made sure to replace all three when I put the injectors back in. The kit I ordered came with all three. Everything was torqued to spec.

Yes once it starts it drives no problem all day long, I can even leave it for an hour or two and it'll fire right up no problem, it's only when it's left overnight that it's an issue.

When you removed the injectors - did the injector return line rotate inappropriately at all? Sometimes when you remove the nut that retains the pipe on an injector the line rotates and you can crack the little pipe that runs between each injector point.. I would kind of expect to see some weeping fuel though.

If nothing else - I would also clamp off the soft fuel line feeding the Lift Pump when you park it tonight - remove the clamp in the morning and see what happens.. it will offer some insight into where to go next maybe.

Yea I see what you mean, the lines that run between seem like they could pose a problem. I definitely noticed it bending a bit when I tried to the nuts loose. I'll try clamping that return line and see if that helps.

Thanks again your insight on 2Hs is very appreciated.

To be clear.. my suggestion is to clamp the feed line to the lift pump (from the tank).. this will determine if air is entering downstream of that point.. seems unlikely.

I would very closely inspect that return line between injectors - and the soft line from the injector return that runs back to the inlet of the lift pump.. make sure its its in good condition and clamped on both ends.

primer pump, fuel filter gasket and soft line to it as well as the bleed nipple itself are areas of most common air intrusion, next old rubber return line cracked or unseated and a bad water/sedimenter
sounds like something didnt get tightened or failed from moving things around

Sounds good guys I appreciate the insight and suggestions. I'll start looking into the soft lines and I'll try clamping the feed line like you suggested.

I'll report back with my findings.
