I was always told to apply weather stripping to the doors when hung then slam them shut and leave it be for a week at least.

I'm unsure, I would look it up and see if it's designed to work with EPDM type weatherstripping. If so, I'd give it a try! Although, so far after using the double sided tape mentioned above, I don't think I'll be gluing any weatherstripping on in the future.

Report after two days of driving around and using the ambulance doors quite a bit:
1) The taped weatherstripping hasn't moved at all. I opened and closed the doors a dozen times over the weekend. All is good.
2) The new weatherstripping sure is tight... gotta close those ambulance doors pretty hard to get them to latch. I am sure the weatherstripping will mellow in a while. I'd rather have them tight anyway.

I have CityRacer’s weatherstrips and this glue already. Maybe I just try.

I just bought the 3m tape. It looks very skinny but obviously with your trial it works

Yeah I used a size that matched the width of the contact area for the weatherstripping on the rear doors. I needed to double it up in a couple of areas by the latch where there is a wider contact area. I drove it yesterday and moved some cargo in and out of the back, the weatherstripping is all exactly where it should be. Two thumbs up so far! I'll give it a few more months before I commit to using it on the front doors which get opened and closed much more frequently.

Two weeks in and I just tugged on the weatherstripping installed with double sided tape and it's as solid as ever. Has any one else given this a shot?
When I did mine I used the 3M black weatherstripping adhesive, has held up well

Yep, I had similar results 2 times and so far I'm loving the double sided tape method I tried. It took 20 minutes from start to finish and it's holding up really well. I did have to supplement the high I got from the glue with a glass of red wine instead...
Have some ambulance door weather stripping I need to put on. Will try this for sure.

By "fixed it right up" do you mean with 3m super black or the tape?

How much time did you allow before laying the weatherstripping down? A minute or two?
I just did this too. OEM strip with 3m black....literally only waited 30 seconds or so then stuck together with those black paper clamps.

I need to do my front and rear doors. The PO appeared to use both poor quality weatherstripping (either it came cut in pieces or he cut it), but he was also very messy with the 3M black. Plus, I could pull off the weatherstripping like it was only held on with painters tape. Did not have good adhesion at all. Doesn't look like he did that correct either.
I've removed the glue on the rear doors as best as possible and have picked up new front/rear weatherstripping from City Racer. Looks much better quality than what was on there. Got a few tubes of 8011 too. I'll admit, the tape @77CruiserDog posted above is appealing. Never thought about using tape until now.

the manufacturers suggested instructions were followed....which stated waiting an amount of time, that i do not recall off the top of my head.
TLDR most of this thread.
I'll add my data point. I used @Racer65 / RacerCity weatherstripping and the VHB recommended here on the rear hatch of my 71. The two did not mix. VHB looks solid and felt sticky to the touch. But the weatherstripping and VHB did not adhere and just kept falling off.
So, now I will follow Racer's recommendations on the website this thread and report back. Wish I had found that earlier.
