Well thanks to Exrsa1 the H55F got installed and ran perfectly for our 2100 mile trip to Colorado!!!

The only hiccup was the shims that we (he) had to play with to get the proper spacing on output shaft....that took about a dozen attempts to get right!

That gearing worked great across Kansas and the low first gear was incredible climbing up the trails! I can't say I got any better gas mileage due to the RRT, but it was a lot more comfortable at 70 mph on I-70!

BTW-thanks for all the feedback on my Q's just before the trip! All that advice helped a ton!

Man, I love those San Juans! I once slept the night on Imogene Pass. I drove from Albq to Telluride intending to drop into Yankee Boy Basin. But when I got on top of Imogene, the sun was setting. So, I just put down a tarp, inflated my air mattress, and crawled into my sleeping bag for a wonderful night of sleep under the stars.

I have a brand-new H55F in a box for my FJ60, waiting for time. I'll be studying all of your threads about your install.

Thanks,
Andy

Great pics! I never saw a milage increase with my H55F and the 2F either. It seems that it takes the same amount of fuel to push it down the road regardless of gearing, but it was nicer to drive, and the first gear ratio is a massive improvement over the four-speed.

Great pics, Now i know who i can get to help put one in when i decide to get one.lol

Nice....I did until the ranger came by!!

Thx

Anytime! Exsra1 knows his sh!@#$t and I couldn't have done it without him!

He's cheap labor as well....just keep the beer fridge full and the work gets done!.....Maybe that's why the shims took a dozen times...mmmmm....nah

Nice rig and hubcaps man!

I take it your tre's did not implode on the way out, or did you change em?

H55f

Sounds like you had a blast, and post some pics of the setup you have, without everything loaded in and tied down. I really like the platform you designed. I look forward to a picture night.

The shims were due to technical difficulties (Oh look, there's 5 shims, and not just three....)

The lovely state of Kansas.......700+ miles one way....you've never seen such flat land.....:-)

Looks like you had some fun.

How did you rack up 2,100 miles going from Kansas City MO to Colorado and back?

Isn't it just one whole state to the left of you?.

The TRE's survived...I'll be putting some new ones on soon. Thx

Nice rig and hubcaps man!

britklr - Who makes your rear bumper and roof rack?

Rear bumper was built by Jim, SROR (Solid Rock Off-Road), and Britklr built the roofrack himself.

Nice rig Britklr. Seeing yours is making me consider one for a trans-amazon trip. Looks like you had a fun ride :)

Thanks...when I get back in town I'll post some more shots of the cargo area.
