Looks like they were milled from the back since they look thin.

You can't machine the back of the flange because it has a spigot that indexes with the output flange on the TC and diff to center the shaft.

The front end where the washers and nuts are looks like cast, hasn't been milled. Could he used another part? The spigot looks like it was milled since I see circular machining? Thanks.

Installed mine this morning. Fit perfectly. I am now driving around in vibration-free bliss. :)

Looks like both of your yolks are cast near the bolts so no machining. He must have used a different part. Great news.

He machined only where the nut and washer sits, recessed if you will. Same part.

whats the final verdict on the quality of these drive shafts?

Only had it a few weeks, hard to say. Vibes are MOSTLY gone, I get small vibrations when I'm coasting at 60 and barely tap the gas. I'd say 95% of my vibes have been eliminated, but it's a joy to drive again. Taken the rig on a few off road trips and have had zero issues so far. John Bull, Dishpan, Holcomb....the normal Big Bear/SoCal stuff. Haven't broken it yet, but a few trips does not prove the quality. Let me beat on it over the next year or so and I may be able to provide a better review.

Should the splines be exposed? I was just wondering if these shafts should come with dust boots.

These are interesting at this price point but for peace of mind I think I will go with the Landtank dc drive shaft.

Yes. No you don't want a boot.

Why is having a boot a bad thing? OEM has a lip seal to keep the dust/water out of the splines... figured this thing should have something to keep the internals clear of moisture and debris.

Boots tends to not only allow dirt/debris/water in but they won't let them back out. Same as boots on shocks. YMMV.
