Awesome build, sub'd.
Have a 93 I'm building up. Deflared it and now I'm trying to figure out how I want to patch before I line the whole truck(paint is bad).
No 80, that I know of, has run 'soup can' on the rubicon. Hook up this spring? You, me, nuke goat, JCardona and possibly others? We can all take turns...
It's chicken sh hit in a mini truck, I've done it 50+ times, forward/ backward, flopped on it, even assaulted it w open diffs and full throttle(broken ARB compressor and beer).
But the 80 is a big pig. New challenge. You've gotta line up perfectly, there's no backing up as our rigs will just stab the butt into the ground in reverse on this.
Damnit! Dreams foiled by the yellow bus. Guess we will have to settle for the first 'full bodies 80s(?)

Winning idea! Little sluice is boringNo 80, that I know of, has run 'soup can' on the rubicon. Hook up this spring? You, me, nuke goat, JCardona and possibly others? We can all take turns...

I've found that obstacles aren't so much of a problem as steep climbs are (like waterfalls and things). Upper Big Johnson was, in a lot of ways, more challenging than Sledgehammer for me.I want to try the Dusy too.
The big pig did surprisingly well on the "easier" hammer trails. Let's make it happen

And remote... not easy to just run into Yucca Valley to get a new something-or-other.I don't think the Dusy is that hard either your rig will walk right through it.
It's just long!!!

I did have to park my rig on Boulderdash after the drag link collapsed

For sure that's the stressful part rather than the technical aspect , I ended up getting a satellite phone after seeing a guy break down right in the middle with 15hrs out and then back in, then to have it break again.
Let me know if you guys are planing a Rubicon trip or any trip, I'd be stoked to come
It required winching in several spots and sleeping in the rig from 3 to 6 am... But I was avoiding all body damage I could... Painful to get through but awesome once done. Your rig would do better than mine did at the time... Go try it!Sledge huh? You sir deserve a beer. That's awesome. I'll be trying it myself eventually but want to get more worked out and get comfortable with the rigs limits.
